Why is it 2 x times the price for us australian? $40USD for the US and $80USD for australia.

I have enjoyed been a customer of impulse in the past but these outrages prices are putting me and my friends of futre impulse prices.

Regional pricing is not something that Stardock controls.  It is set by the publisher often to not annoy regional retail sellers.  We wish it was different and encourage one-world pricing (like we do with our games and apps)

Many New games in Oz are typically $90 AUD plus ...which equates to 'around' $80 US ...so it's pretty typical.

I'm on Oz, too, BTW ...;)

I buy my games from JB-HI fi and I have never paid more then $80 for a PC game. The only reason I buy from Impulse and Steam is because they are cheaper then retail. I prefer retail but because digital is cheaper i get that. But 2 x the price of USA is a damn ripp off. I am not blaming Impulse directly but if this becomes a trent I won't be recommending impulse to my friends any more, I will also stop buying from impulse.

More of an explanation from Yarlen taken from a similar post:

THQ sets the prices for their games on a per-territory basis, which is why it costs more outside of North America. They do this for a number of reasons, one of which is to prevent digital sales (with the weak dollar) undercutting retailers in each territory. It's not something we can change.

I think it looks bad because we list the current exchange rate for USD to GBP (or whatever currency) in our store - since when the payment occurs it happens in USD. It's just that the USD is worth a LOT less than the GBP or Euro right now.

Disgusting prices. I'm sure glad I live in the UK, most new games are £24.99 from Play.com for example. That's around $47Oz at current exchange rates.

How much is the Elemental pre-order for you?

As was mentioned above, we do not set prices for anything aside from our own software and games.

Elemental preorder has risen from $50 to $60. Why!!! I don't have the faintest clue why stardock wants us australians to pay more. I have had nothing but issues with stardocks preorder and pricing system.

That won't be Stardock....that will be local distribution market forces....just like a 6-pack of Corona [beer] is about half the price in the US as it is in Aus.

It's cheaper in Canada than Aus too....[the beer]....;p
