64 bit support

I know that there are updates that will be coming out soon for the Customizing Software that will take care of Win 7 compatibility, in fact some betas are out.  Will compatibility for 64 bit OS (Vista and Win 7) also be included in those updates?  I have a new computer that I brought in April that has Vista Home Premium 64 bit and would like to see it happen, time permitting. :sun:

I believe the updates for Win7 will include x64 support, but I'm not sure about Vista.  Zubaz should be able to provide more specifics.

I'm not sure about Vista.
End of quote

Is anyone, anymore? I have the sinking feeling that Vista will get very little love after the release of Windows7. M$ will just sweep it under the rug to be forgotten, and most software venders will follow suit. Too bad for some of us who can't or don't want to upgrade to 7 for at least another year.

I really wanted to put 64 bit Vista Ultimate on my rig when I built it in May,but stuck with 32 bit since everything in ODNT works on it.

It looks like I made the right choice, but I would love to be proven wrong.;)

Well now I have a problem.  I probably should have never done this or mention this now but one of the considerations for buying the computer I did was because of some of the discussions here about the virtues of 64 bit.  Brad was very convincing along with several others.

So now it would appear that in order for me to experience all the capabilities of the customization software I will have to updgrade to Win 7.  Not really what I expected.  Can't turn back to 32 bit since the computer is built for 64 bit, you know, all that 8GB of memory.  Hmmmm.

Island Dog, from your reply then it's really not even known if Win 7 64 bit capability will be supported?

Oh well, live and learn.

Okay, so as to not sound like a big whinner (and I really like cheese), I've spent some time talking to Island Dog, Jafo, Hankers, WOM and Lantec in IRC (lots of folks hang out there).  Having done this I will be going off to either Best Buy or Amazon to preorder Win 7 for a version that is compatible with Vista Home Preimum 64 bit.

It just seems there is always an opportunity to spend money when talking about your computer.

i sincerely hope that Win 7 stays around for a long enough time so that Stardock has a chance to become fully compatible with all it's versions including 64 bit.

The first thread i see talking about Windows 8 (or the next MS OS) I'm going to find a very high cliff to jump off. :O :-"

Oh crap, now what do I do with my XP Home 32 bit system. |-O
