Is Demigod dead?

Is Demigod dead?

No news for a while... GPG seem to have distanced themselves from this game (and star dock) and it would seem that all of their focus is on SC2. Stardock seem busy with their new game too... where does this leave DG?

I've already noticed that the number of players online is dropping a lot and find it impossible to get into a game most nights, due to lack of others online. Of the 60+ people in my friends list there's no more than 1 or 2 online these days...

Is DG just going to be written off as a failure? With the game only half complete upon release and no mention of updates to meet the basic requirements, it's looking like DG was maybe written off before it's rushed release and they may have just tried to quickly shove it out the door and try to recoup some costs on retail sales.

I mean seriously how can this game last much longer with:

No competitive gameplay features.

The broken ladder.

Lack of clan functionality, that's been promised all along.

No replay system, how the hell is this not in the game.

No ability for the community to modify the game.

The list goes on.

It's sad because given a proper software development cycle and some real beta testing this game could have been HUGE. Instead it is/will be relegated to the 'nice but... no' basket of gaming.

People wonder why no one is going to knock Blizzard off their throne, because other devs put out half-finished games and wonder why people don't want to play them.

I believe no further evidence of Demigod's demise is need. Lock thread, and close the severs. Game over.

How come people are saying connection problems are fixed, even with a direct connection to the net no router no software fire no nothing I cannot connect. This is the only game I've ever had such problems with, I've made multiple posts in Connectivty Problems, Tech Problem, Frogboys thread etc etc and nothing, no help at all. Worse 100 NZD I ever spent.

If you consider having 3.2k online at one time "dead" then yes, Demigod is very dead

I see these numbers being quoted by others too (even frogboy), but Ive gone to the server page http://www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.aspx during what should be prime time for the US (and for eu), and the most Ive ever seen on was a bit over 800.

Is there some other source for finding number of players online?

For the millionth time... http://www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.aspx only shows the stats of the one single server that was used during the beta. There are several of those servers now running. As far as I remember there are 6 servers in total now. So to get an estimate on how many people are currently online via http://www.demigodthegame.com/opengames.aspx you simply could multiply it by 6.

EDIT: What Spooky said

there maybe 6 servers runing but that doesn't mean  they all hold the  same amount i play WE  and they have 7 servers 1 server has 1000 people  so by our logic they have  7000  people online

when they minght only have 1000

This is a pretty ridiculous post given that the last journal entry is only a couple days old and we're only a few days from the release of v1.1.

By that same logic there is an equal chance that they do have 7000 players, so what exactly is your point? Above poster tells you that there are more servers and by rough calculation you can approximate the number of players. He doesn't give you the exact count. We all know that not every server has the same amount of players.

I've asked them to turn off the beta server data report page since people keep using it to make these obnoxious posts.
