OP threads are OP!

Seriously, I hope that GPG doesn't take these threads seriously. Any player worth his salt knows that this is a very balanced game adn every single 'X IS OP' whine is easily shut down or countered by decent strategy. No DG or build in the game is unbeatable. You're just coming up against better players, it does happen!

I would agree with ya there, if only those rook towers had a little bit less damage and a little more longetivity in return.

Besides that, everything is pretty balanced imo

Healthstacking IS OP!

Multiple Reg sniping only IS OP!

Most OP threads are caused by healthstacking i think...

I think saying the game is completely balanced is a little wrong TBH.

You're saying that for all the maps, for all the different numbers of players, all of the playable characters are equally useful?

Think two rooks on crucible are going to lose? You tower farm the single lane up and you'd have to be a complete retard to lose after that.

Played a long game on Zikurat or Mandala before? How'd you go playing as QoT? Got caned by characters that rip you to shreds in the endgame like Reg? Hmm...I wonder what you could have done to stop that...not a whole lot because its a large map and the game is going to take longer, so you can't really stop the endgame from happening.

Think Sedna is awesome in a 5v5? Try playing one, your heal is far less useful because the amount of damage coming in is more than any damage mitigation strategy can handle, and you'll get nuked to death anytime you go near a group of opposing players (if you're on your own you're an idiot and if you're in your own group you'll get targeted)

On the other hand, in a 2v2 Sedna can negate a significant portion of the nuke damage coming in as well as being able to tank well enough to get in and pounce, silence enemies, making her one of the best choices.

So my point is...

Each character is good at taking advantage of certain situations that crop up within each game, and perhaps within the context of the entire set of maps and the entire set of character combinations the game really is well balanced, but the maps decide how often each of these situations occur, and as such different DGs are going to dominate different maps. For this reason I think there IS a need to talk about balancing concerns, and while there are many more OP/UP threads than necessary and many of them are promoting ridiculous discussion, that's one of the primary reasons for having the forum.

Thanks for reading and apologies if I sound like an ass.

End of woppin's quote

Zikurat and Mandala as  QoT is actually very fun because you can actually reach a point where you are also EPIC'd out..

As it is on the smaller maps with the QoT played as a tower, building buster, you end the game long before then.

And on those maps as big as they are... you can always always be somewhere else and CAP LOCK THE PORTALS For the Giants.

That's assuming they arent doing the exact same thing, ie. playing the game well. I am assuming equal skill level.

Caplocking portals is a valid strategy at any stage of the game, however if the game has gone on for long enough the win is going to go to the characters that have a strong late game. My point is that late game doesnt happen on a map like Cataract unless the team with the late game characters is winning, in which case they rightly win the match. If the team with late game chars is losing, there will be no late game as the game will end around 20 minutes.

Contrast this to Mandala. Late game is going to happen. There will undoubtedly be Giants coming into play and probably artifacts. Who benefits from this? Late game chars, so in effect by playing a larger map the scales have been tipped in the direction of a subset of characters.

I'm not saying its impossible to win with a strong early game character on a big map, if your opponents are poor then you will win regardless of minor balance issues, but I don't think the playing field is very even on the larger, or the smaller maps. For me, Leviathan, Cataract, and Prison are the best maps because they allow early, mid,and late game chars each to have a roughly equal chance at winning. Whereas the others I'm really not sure about.
