Interesting/strange disconnect...wtf?

Ok...after a few weeks of playing this game and enjoying it tons...I've finally hit a point where I'm flippin aggrivated!  A friend and I tried for about 15 min trying to get into a Pantheon round together.  Finally, we got into one...and all 4 ppl connected, and the game launched.  Well, as it's loading, I hear the usual "Player has left the game" 2 times.  Since I was talking to my friend on Vent and they still loaded in, I assumed the other team just got disconned.  Anyways, the game was played...but at points of the game, u could tell something wasn't right.  He asked a few times what lvl I was, and I'd tell him, and he would say on his end, I was a few lvls lower.  I disregarded it, until he said we won.  I didn't know what he was talkin bout, we weren't near the Citi on my screen, but he said they killed it on his end.  Obviously at that point, we were in 2 different games.  I thought it was a strange disconnect, since neither of us really DISCONNECTED.  Anyways, I finished the game on my end, still chattin with him on vent.  He asked if the round would still count.  I assured him it would, and he could just check the website in the morning and see his w/l ratio.  Well, I checked his and he got a win outta it like i assumed, me on the other hand, even tho I won on my end...I received a loss!  Seriously...wtf???  I showed no sign of disconnect on my end, won my round, and still received a loss.  Now I know my friend probably ended up being the host, and that's why he got the win, so I'm simplly stating how aggrivated I am for the strange disconnect.  Instead of the disconnect, it STILL puts me into a game...with no chance of winning, no matter what.  Next time Stardock...   JUST KICK ME FROM THE GAME!  Dam...

It's usually when someone (or several ppl) disconnects that the game has split.

Everyone who is still connected to the "host" (in Pantheon that could be anyone) still is in the "real" game and the game will count as usual. Everyone who disconnected (for any reason: crash, game split, RQ) will incur a loss, regardless of whose team won.

If you know you're not in the "real" game you might as well quit as the game won't count anyway.

I'll definently keep that in mind...  When noone else had a ping (all 0) ...shoulda been a telltale sign that somethin was wrong.  :(

Some people seem to subscribe to the theory that whichever game ends first is the one that is recorded during a split. I'm inclined to agree with you, though... It's more likely the game that the host is in, imo. I would need to look back on my history a bit to figure it out.

Think of how many games you screwed over trying to get into a Pantheon match with your friend.  Now imagine that you finally got matched up with him... and someone on the other team left, because they weren't matched up with their friend.  Let's hope settings are implemented soon where you can have premade teams before joining the Pantheon.

I was surprised as well that after about 10 games I have 1 win and 1 loss recorded.  It seems that losing 1 player (for whatever reason, I'm a little suspcious about blaming connectivity problems on "rage") is wiping out everyone else.

I like the game but the connection stuff is killing it.

It's what we call a "server split."  Because the game is handled P2P each person can "think" everyone has left the game and can keep running it on their own.

So you could have half the people in one game and half the people in another after a split.

If a server split occurs the game is basically over.  Not only can you not be sure you're in the "real" game, but it probably won't count for anything but a loss on your record anyways.

Or this happens:

End of InfiniteVengeance's quote

Actually, im fairly certain that it is the original host who ends up being the real game. (The one who created the game)

So basically if you are playing with the one who created the game, your win might still count as a win. If you are not, you already lost no matter what you do, so you can quit as well.

Extremely annoying, when 30 seconds before the end, the host of the game splits.. leaving 4 people from a 3v3 hanging in a phantom game.. :/

Maybe, but if the original host is the person who leaves the game then a server split is nearly guaranteed.  (Doesn't happen often because the host is the one least likely to quit)

Now there's at least 2 games going and the original host isn't in either of them.
