This thread only shows one thing, some people have no clue about paid RTS simultaneous online players.

2-5k at peak time is the standard for a good game, except for Warcraft 3 and eventually the upcoming Starcraft 2. Blizzard games are in another league as far as total players go.

600 is NOT peak. It's offpeak. When I played last night, it was 1784 online and I'm sure it still wasn't the max. 6 weeks in, it's not neither bad, nor good, it's average.

Battleforge is FREE to play and it only peaks at 5-6k for now.

Here is an approximation of sales --> online players :

100k --> 2-3k

200-300k --> 5-6k

500k --> 7-8k

1M --> 12-13k

As you can see, it is NOT linear. That is because although a lot more people are buying the game, some also stops playing and you also have to take into account the whole world and not just one particular country, which means people are not all getting online at the same time. Some people also don't play online at all, or almost never.

PS: that's not scientitifcally calculated stats, it's just to give an idea.

Ive said this lots of times

OpenGames.asp does NOT show all the players online. It only shows people in a game lobby or already in game.

dont u see all games in the lobby or whats the deal? your speaking about 2000 player peaks and there were 5 open games in the lobby. there cant even be enough running games for 600, which u say it the bottom peak.

Reply #30 Top

you don't see games running AND game lobbies where every open slot is already taken.

End of SirDigger's quote

I NEVER said 600 was bottom peak, I said it was offpeak which means it's just one of the numbers out of peak time.

Bottompeak is more along the lines of 200-300 and it's generally the time when US is sleeping and Europe still working which would 2-3h ago.

And no matter what, the webpage does NOT show total people online. It shows only people in a game lobby or in a match, it does not show people chatting or afk or waiting on a game lobby to pop up.

hmm i was just looking at the custome games people. i do not want this game to fail or i would not have seen that. but 2 weeks ago between 11pm to 2 am east time the custome game lobby would be full everytime i either hosted after comen out of a game or joined 1. last few days i did not see this.

Yea 2k peak time is a decent amount of people to have

On weekends, like memorial day, we were over 2k playing at one time.  I think part of the reason custom games are decreasing is pantheon matchmaking seems to be more stable since v1.01 and the minor stardock update.  Loading is fast and the experience just plain works 90% plus for me.

I was playing custom games predominantly because Pantheon and Skirmish were broken.  Now that they work, I've been playing more Pantheon games.

ic may be thats the reason i do not know all i was seeing was the decrease of custome games at the times i usually see a whole page. i wont play skirmish nor path till they let pre mades go in. oh i hope they implement the type of match you want to play as well

Anyone who believes this game is doing fine is kidding themselves. Honestly, 2000 people after about a month of release is the most i've seen and that is pathetic. It might seem or feel like a lot but it's nothing.

To everyone who said this game will be dead soon if GPG/Stardock dont fix this game, you are completly right. 2000 players after a month of release will only grow if the game is fixed in around 2-3 weeks or so. After that its all downhill if nothing is fixed. And no, im not being impatient for the updates and all that, i love this game and i want to see it thrive, however im not going to kid myself like some of the fanboys on here.

You are unfortunately correct.  The game is not dead yet, but if bugs persist it may quickily end up that way.

Hey there

I just seen this was a post by you and thought I'd drop in and say HI!!!  Y'know, I kicked ya outta my game earlier ;D.  If you do not want to be patient and wait for a game to start, and leave, and expect to come back and play as the game fills up, well to bad!! You left once... I kick you out the rest of the time for not staying originally. ;D

The game is NOT dead and is NOT dying.

2k people is a lot.

Your comparing it to other RTS games that have big fanbases to start off - do you really think Demigod will have the same activity as them?

But the basic features it lacks is starting to piss a lot of people off, including me.

And could someone tell me where this 2k figure is coming from.

Are you talking about the opengames.asp site? I have never seen that at 2k before
