Deskscapes keeps hijacking my AVIs

Im having a problem with Deskscapes.  Occasionally, and there doesnt seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, but Deskscapes will play my my movie files when I double click them in explorer.  I have looked into the right click  -Open With - menu, and even verified that the default is WMP.  However, sure enough, at some point, Deskscapes will take them over and when I go to watch a movie, I'll get it playing on the desktop.

Im running Vista 64 and deskscapes 2.00 (#106).

Any suggestions?  This is really annoying, as I have to launch the deskscapes config program and re-select my background every time.

According to Impulse, I am running 2.50.  According to the About Deskscapes its 2.00 (#106).  The version information inside the program is not accurrately mirroring the same information displayed in Impulse.

An update on this - when this occurs, the default activity for "launching" my AVIs (or mpgs, etc.) is "Set as Desktop Background" in windows explorer.

There doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to why SADB becomes the default - WMP is still listed as the default player.

Does anyone have ANY information on this.  I posted this topic two months ago and I have received zero assistance other than a single "make sure you're running the current version" from tech support.

Is this even the tech support forum?

Go to the Start menu> Default Programs and under "Set your default programs" check for the video file associations with the programs.

For example you should have

.wmv or .mpg associated with WMP

incase you have some other media player installed, it should show up like I have GOM media player for .mkv

i would suggest the same thing. set the file association default in the control panel for these things. it should be there.

Setting the file association did nothing to resolve this issue.  The default file association IS set to WMP.  However, at random times, "set as background" just showed up as the default action.  There is no rhyme or reason as far as I can tell.

The only thing I could to do stop this was go to into the registry and manually delete all of the keys for "Set as Desktop Background."  Its unfortunate, but Ive had this problem for way too long and Ive just had to stop using Deskscapes because of it.
