does anyone know the name of this car?
i really like it, but i dont know its name.....
i really like it, but i dont know its name.....
Weren't we all, though....amazing how that changes.
People assume quite wrongly that SUVs/4 wheel drives/Toorak Tractors [call 'em what you will] are safer than smaller cars/normal cars.
They are wrong.....on all levels of vehicular safety.
Primary safety and vehicular dynamics are typically pathetic.
They assume however it's ONLY about momentum/inertia transference - again wrong.
Probably the best thing to be said about SUV owners is they are going to be temporary road users.....their vehicle choice will eventually kill them off and leave the roads free for sensible people.
Hopefully they can also take those bastards-of-the-roads....the speedboat on a trailer and the effing caravans....with them when they go.
Jafo...you are so right. SUV's will be the dinosaurs of the auto industry. Too too big some of them and the rate of fuel they guzzle. Talk about jumping on the bandwagon. Who ever heard of a Cadillac SUV...seriously.

Pretty much leaves just one kind of vehicle...

Yup, my nephew has a Mini Cooper and was rear ended at a set of lights by someone driving a Toyota SUV... let's just say that the Mini came out best dressed afterwards, he was able to drive it home from the scene. Ady, knowing a bit about fixing cars, was able to panel beat the Mini... a rear window and can of aerosol paint or two later and you'd hardly know the difference.
The Toyota, on the otherhand, had to be towed away and had a repair bill of AUD$11,000 +... it sustained significant front grill, radiator and hood damnage... not to mention that the driver had to exit the vehicle via the passenger door due to the front panel enveloping it.
Talk about David & Goliath. ![]()
How safe would you feel in a 1994 Cadillac Deville![]()
this is my current car...my diahatsu mira (internet piccy not mine, but same colour and model) mine has pink hello kitty seat covers....yeah, no felix...*sigh*

that smart car always catches my eye, i seem to see them around sometimes when im out and about, its a car i would consider if i had to get a second car down the track. small cars seem to appeal to me, as in petrol, parking and rego wise.
this lil baby only takes 20 bucks to fill up.....i love it, its almost criminal...i love it.![]()
for us assies... i actually took this little baby through the mount glorious range, on the way home from brissy.....seriously, she did really well for only 3 cylenders, the temp gauge didnt even sway!!...nice area too!...man id LOVE to live around that area....so peacefulll....xx
In the UK, where we have somewhat narrower roads than elsewhere, these things are lethal. They hold up traffic, overtaking is hazardous at best, and every dork seems to have one. You can't get anywhere at the weekend without coming across hundreds of the damn things.
RPGs work just fine ![]()
Red Dwarfs smart

On its website, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the driver's door unlatched and opened during a side-impact crash test of the model.
"A door opening during a side impact crash increases the likelihood of occupant ejection," it noted.
Still, the Smart car got five out of five stars for its ability to protect occupants during side crashes. It won four stars for sheltering drivers and three stars for passengers during head-on crashes.
Yeah, I remember that as a kid on Dartmoor with the olds... we got stuck for miles on end behind a 'grockle' (tourist( towing a caravan along those narrow and windy roads. Shoot, those roads are so old and narrow - built centuries ago for horse and cart - that cars traveling in the opposite direction have to pull up into the hedgerow to pass... and there's this idiot with a 26 foot caravan and 2 or 3 bicycles strapped to the back.
Sheesh! ![]()
Yup, a truly beautiful part of the World... guess that's why they called it Mt Glorious...but shush... we don't want tourists finding out and overwhelming the place. ![]()
Really doesn't matter what ya drive now a days, they don't make them out of steel anymore. To much plastic and no bumpers.
That's one reason I like my '91 SAAB 9000 Turbo..... real bumpers....;)
well we will see how it goes for SAAB.....
..and you can really scare the shit out (horsepowerwise) of the 9000 and 900 turbo on stock stuff
...think ill get a 9-3 turbo next and pimp it a bit ![]()
I want what RickJP has...warp five Mr. Sulu.
![]()
With the top speed of a Smart Car it's more like warp .0000000005
You cant go past this little ripper its the old wolseley, it is strong and better than the cars we have today
I don't think it's meant to be your main car. You keep it in the trunk as a spare.......![]()
I dunno that's too far out of the question.... spare cars instead of spare tyres in the trunk. Somebody 'll eventually come out with a blow-up car that'll fit in the trunk... maybe even the glovebox.... which could be interesting if a bloke's out with his date and she peers inside:
"Oh that! But-but-but.... but it's not what you think, m' dear.... it it-it-it-it's my emergency compact car, in case of breakdowns."
