"First Blood" and other kill achievments

I see many people talking about the importance of "First Blood". What is the benefit of this, and for that matter any of the other kill based announcements?

I have searched both this site and Google and haven't found anything. I feel like the slow guy who doesn't get the joke but laughs anyway.

First blood, as in, first kill, tends to show the beginning of a trend of one sided dominance. As in, you start killing early, you start winning early. And it's true, as a kill for you means more gold and exp, and 30 seconds of dead time for your opponent, which can be huge, especially early game.

There's sort of a snowball effect. You get first kill and the gold/xp plus they lose gold/xp while they wait on tiemr and run back to battle.

There is a high premium on dying. Do not die.

None. They have no affect on gameplay.

I think they say First blood is important because it gives you a gold advantage (and disadvantages the one who died). Really though it's pretty insignifacnt and shouldn't sway the game much.

If you're team is decent, then it shouldn't sway it TOO much. Especially since early game kills aren't exactly MONEYBANKS kind of jobs. However, if you've got feeders, it's a sign of things to come... again... and again... and again... and again... and again...

I think a first blood achievement wouldnt be healthy for Demigod. Instead of finding your place in your team people would start to hunt down 'weaker demigods', kill stealing and it might open a can of worms... We need more achievements to encourage teamplay.

Some examples:

- first citadel upgrade

- tower killer

- healer (highest number shield/healing used on other team members)

- flag locker

...

Flag locker? Do you really want to see your teammates capping flags around the base just to get the achievement?

A very good point, bug. I think you are right, there is a danger of abuse. Maybe the achievment should be limited to flags in the middle o the map or the other base, maybe even to a few handpicked flags.
