Tweaking for better performance

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to tweak Demigod to perform as best as I can. To give you an impression my system is:

Intel Dual Core 1,6 GHz
3 GB RAM
ATi Mobility x1600 with 256 RAM (yes its a laptop)

I'm putting out an average of 20-25 fps, which imo is way too low for the system requirements and my laptop. But since I am playing some random maps and trying every setting I can find, I currently disabled everything (or put it low) and only have resolution "up" so it matches my widescreen (1280 x 786 if I'm not mistaken).

So now I'm in a map which flows in space with a statue around it. The area is very empty so not much has to be rendered etc. So I was thinking; is it possible to turn those things off to get a better performance? In this space map I'm putting out around 35-40 FPS, which is a noticable difference.

Any other suggestions to tweak are welcome as well. I already updated my drivers which gave me a little FPS boast, but more needs to be tweaked.

To sum it up, what are the possibilities to advance tweak the game and can you disable the surroundings?

Maybe you want to have a look at the official requirements:

Minimum:

  • Windows XP SP3 / Vista SP1
  • 2.4 GHz Processor
  • 512 MB Available System Memory
  • 8 GB Available Hard Drive Space
  • 128 MB 3D Video Card (ATI Radeon X1600 / Nvidia GeForce 6800 or better)*
  • Sound Card
  • Broadband Internet Connection for Multiplayer
  • Stardock's Impulse Required for Updates/Digital Download
  • * Intel integrated chipsets are not supported.

As you can see, you only fit the minimum range (your CPU is too weak for more fps I guess, even it´s dual core).

Any dual core processor is fine.  His bottleneck is the graphics card.   The x1600 is for a desktop x1600.  The laptop version is usually 1/3 as slow.

Try turning off all background programs.   Turn sound to low settings if you haven't already.

I think they MIGHT be planning to add a setting where the background eyecandy in maps can be rendered to lower graphics.

that actually MIGHT be a good thing ;)

K some things I gave a go as well.

- Sound settings low
- Using Catalyst Center to aim for performance

Added 3-4 FPS... not something to go nuts over... anyone else with suggestions?

Changed everything in game.prefs btw to 0 or 1 (depending on the option) so everything is really off :P
