guardian shield restore visuals slows my game way down

I know that having lots of units on screen can slow your game down.  But i've specifically noticed that when lots of guardians are on screen using shield restore my game crawls.  not only that, but the damn visual for it is a nearly opaque bubble around the ships, completely clouding my view of the battle.  What setting can I adjust to make this effect less taxing on my system or at least more transparent?

For now, there's not much I think you can do. It's a known complaint about the Guardian effect. It was made a bit better in Entrenchment, and if I remember right Blair posted that they'll find a way to fix it up.

You could probably email support@ironcladgames.com and ask about it, they may have some suggestions.
