My friend found an injured cat today, outside his house. He called me to help him figure out what to do with it, since he doesnt know much about animals, and wanted to take care of the poor kitty.

I go to his place, to check it out, and things were a lot worse than I thought. The cat had severe head injuries, at least 1 broken leg, multiple minor wounds on its body, and the worst thing, its tail was cut off.

I inspected the cat carefully, and figured that it must have been viciously abused by a human being. This was no work of a dog, or any other animal. Its tail was cut off with almost surgical precision, I would say that the person who did this, even used a scalpel.

Also, it seems like most of its injuries were inflicted several days ago, which leads me to believe that it had strayed on the roads for days, being unable to find food, and being heavily disoriented and out of balance (cats cant even walk straight without their tail). This one couldnt even stand on its feet, so it must have crawled a long way.

How sick can someone be to do such a thing to a poor kitty, and then throw it on the street to die?

Most likely either someone who's parents were either too strict or not strict enough to teach them properly. Though I know of some cases where even the best parents fail. After all we are free moral agents.

banned for some people are just psychopaths. Believe it or not, The Dark Knight was not at all wrong when it said that some people just want to see the world burn. If that's the case, parenting might never be enough to see them sway.

As for the cat, I'm sorry to say that it might have to be put down. Balance issues are bad, but head trauma means it's probably going to have structural issues with its nervous system that it could never get past. I've seen this sort of thing and the only real solution for the animal is a swift end. Sorry.

I agree with Draak. Its a sad thing yes, but most animals can't adapt to such damage. Best to put it down and end its suffering.

I will make sure that the cat will go to a good vet, first thing in the morning. Which is in about 15 minutes

It will survive, I have faith. Cats are tough, and with proper care, at least it will live the rest of its life without suffering.

I know it cant live outside on its own, but I am willing to take care of it, take it into my home.

Okay, go ahead and try. To be honest, without seeing the actual damage (plus not being a vet) my opinion may be wrong. I have seen many a cat survive quite a bit. Once had one live with a three inch gaping hole in its side. You could see its guts inside, was freaky. It lived for quite a long time.
