Yeah, while Impulse my download speeds can reach around 150 - 160kbs, (occasionally a little higher) they're most often around 90 - 100kbs.
However, I put that down to having a second, sometimes third PC online using bandwidth... and sometimes my ISP. There are times of the day/night when connections are noticably slower due to larger numbers on-line... eg, shortly after schools get out and early evenings when workers get home. Later at night and the early hours of the morning is usually the fastest, when more people are off-line and in bed.
So slow downs may not be down to just the Stardock servers. 
I have an uber connection and I am sure that Impulse's download speed is capped, either by their ISP upload bandwidth, or more likely on a per download basis. I've never gotten a maxxed download speed via Impulse. In fact, I'm not sure I have ever seen anything higher that 200 kilobytes per second.
guess i am lucky i just did that speedtest and came up with 29490 kbps
@jpmurph1, how did you speedtest Impulse?
@wizard1956, that widget only tests the speed of your local ISP under ideal conditions. It doesn't test the Impulse/Stardock servers or have anything to do with the original poster's question. Thanks for the link though!
