Assasssination Event Questions

How can I know what triggers various events (both normal and mega)?

Specifically, I was wondering about the assassination event that results in war.

Thanks in advance

seems to me that there isn't a specific trigger but it's pretty random...if after the event you reload to the previous week for example, it doesn't fire up anymore...

pretty random

From my own experience and lots of reading around here, that's how I'd describe it also. Many of us suspect that there are play styles and map contexts that influence the chance of a given event ocurring, but they are still 'random' even if the variables vary.

Or this perception could just reflect the difference between anecdotal data and statistics based on a sufficiently large random sample of players--just because you see a pattern doesn't mean its really there.

What game are you playing? Dread Lords, or one of the expansions? I'm not sure that the assassination happens in TA with the Mega Events toggled off. Does it? It happens all of the time in Dread Lords though.

It seems to happen to me when I (playing Terran) and my friend or ally (usually Alterians) are dominating the galaxy. It basically mixes up the game when things are stale.

I remember reading something about that. IIRC it said that the higher my intel level on the race, the lower the chance for that event to happen. Or was it for the "incidently insulting ambassador"? :S

Anyway, from there on i decided to have at least the first intel level on each race. Didn't have many such events thereafter, but I can't back up that with hard data.

The Mega Events I believe have some sort of factors involved in determining if they occur, so I've heard. Some people, depending on their playstyle have said certain Mega Events happen quite often, while others with different playstyles seem to rarely see them, but see others. I for one, have yet to encounter the peacekeeper mega event, yet get dread lord event probably once every 5 games.

Also, I believe (Sole Soul said this) that setting Extreme Planet Quality occurance (during game setup) to lower levels, makes events happen less frequently. So having extreme planets on abundant should give alot of events, whereas having extreme planets on rare will give hardly any events. I have somewhat verified this, because I hardly got ANY events at all (when I used to play with Extreme PQ's on rare), now I have set them to be in the middle and have since gotten events happening more frequently.

Sounds like some type of bug to me though, since events should not be effected by extreme PQ setting.
