Dread Lord Dominion and Peacekeepers

Query

First off, apologies if these questions have already been answered. Unfortunately, for some odd reason, the search function isn’t working for me.

I actually have a number of questions concerning Twilight of Arnor (Endless Universe).

1. During a skirmish, how long does it normally take for the Dread Lords to show? I’ve been playing for awhile now, with Mega Events turned on, and yet I’ve seen no sign of any Dread Lords.

2. What is the skirmish option, “Dread Lord Dominion”?

3. How do you deal with Peacekeepers? They just popped out of nowhere for me and are quite handily destroying anything space-worthy. They even crushed a few Iconian ships which are currently the strongest ships in the galaxy. Don’t get me wrong as it’s been a blast forming alliances to crush the mutual threat but if anyone can help with a tactic for taking them down, I’d appreciate it.

4. If you win a skirmish battle, do you get the option to continue playing?

Thanks ahead of time to any who can help!

In a standard game, the Dreadlords event is one of many random occurences; they may or may not ever appear in any given game.

The Dreadlord scenario is one that does specifically have them present so that they must be dealt with.

Generally the best way to deal with peacekeepers is to bide your time and tech up until you can build superior ships to mop them up with.

No, you cannot continue after victory.

Muchas Gracias Kryo

If what you say about the "Dread Lord Dominion" scenario is true then I think mine's bugged somehow as that's pretty much the scenario I always choose and yet, I haven't even seen a hint of a Dread Lord.

The only times they have ever showed up for me (as I recall) was when my ships were in my territory, therefore they would never declare war on me. It would be quite the advantage when my enemy ships would be blown up so I could focus on transports to take enemy worlds. Plus, I've had them asking for help on some occasion so I've been able to trade for their techs.

However, they are like pirates so any tactic useful against pirates is likely useful against Peacekeepers. Tech up quickly until you have firepower to start clearing them out. You are likely to lose ships in the process, so focus on whatever clears out those ships until you get the breathing room to start forming proper fleets. Once done, deal with the rest as you see fit.

In real life UN Peacekeepers are weak and inconsequential.  The game should reflect this.  Also the presence of the Peacekeepers should drain your tax income by 10%.

The game reflects an ideal where they are not weak and inconsequential.  :P

Just because they are in real life doesn't mean they're supposed to be.

But the game also reflects an ideal where I am supposed to invade Torian planets and exterminate billions of them in their hot springs -- all the time maintaining Good alignment.  Real-life UN Peacekeepers would not interfere with this noble objective.

In order to be a game it must provide a challenge, but there is already the Pirates and Dread Lords mega events, so why not make the Peacekeepers do something different, like produce thousands of 1/1 fighters that clog all movement around the screen until you blow them up, but if you attack one of them your diplomatic relations are permanently damaged.

Also, somebody needs to *pay* for the Peacekeepers.  Every civ should have to contribute money to support them.  In fact, the United Planets membership should cost money.  Membership fees should be equal to the square root of your percentage economic income vs. galaxy income.  For example, if my civ produces 30% of the combined income of all civs, then I should pay 55% of the support fees for the United Planets.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Not necessarily, but interesting formula.

I haven't seen a post about it but this thread and post by Skinny-Y made me think (somethings burning)  :maybe: ... Has anyone EVER had the Dread Lords AND Peacekeeper in one game???   :waaaa:

Yes.

I had one game in particular where the Dread Lords showed up three times over the course of the game, and at one point while one of them was active (the AI was actually decent about killing them off, so there were never two active at once, although I'm not sure if there even can be), the Jagged Knife and Peacekeepers spawned.

This was my game where the Peacekeepers had fleets with 1400 attack/400 defense-per ship-and they had them in fleets of TWENTY.  (28,000 attack/8,000 defense fleets.)

This was also the game where I encountered a bug that put me five hundred million BC in debt, so for the vast majority of the game I couldn't do anything but sit there and take it.

u no when peacekeepers showed for me there was no stay in ur influence to be safe. When they appeared i was the major power in the galaxy with 150 large custom ships i called the hybrid. I also had 100 huge ships called the goliaths. i had just won a major war against the dregin and my ships had all come home to repair and upgrade. All of my ships were orbiting planets. when the peacekeepers hit i lost all 250 within the first year. it took 4 years to wipe them out and noone had neships left in the galaxy. i had to make a huge ship that had like 80 mass and 80 missile defense to win and even then i needed 4 to take out one of the peace keepers without losing a ship.

I never had the peacekepers yet but from reading posts i know that when i see the m i'm screwed.

As for dread lords i just got them 2 days ago in my beginner game and they do nothing but sit there and build influence star bases. I decided to attack them and i did a pretty decent job of it but then the pirate mega event happened and had to recall my forces because it became a sluaghter fest.

If I recall correctly, the event is that scientists find something or other that activates the PeaceKeepers, which are robotic ships. I always think of them as the Berserkers; they are "paid" for by some Precursor mechanism or other.
