What is best,Turn computer off everynight

What is the best thing to do with your computer.Should you shut it down everynight or leave it on and let it go to hibernate?

I have heard different opinions on this subject.Leaving it on there is less risk for getting a virus in computer. This could just be a myth but I would like to hear what you all think. o_O

I've found that besides the heat problem, turning things off makes my Electic Company Meter look less like a speedometer.

I've tried it both ways.  With 3 puters, 1 in each room, we turn them off.  I've had 1 of the puters about 5 years now so it hasn't messed it up.  But its a ***To each their own***.

I always turn mine off, if i am going to be away from it more than an hour i turn it off, just because of the past when bad things happened when i left it on 24/7

I only leave mine on at night if I 'm running a backup image or an in depth scan.  CPU fan sounds like a Huey chopper.

Clean your fans....you would be amazed at the decible change.

I turn mine off every night. It's a me thing. Then there are the monthly cleanings, because it is so damn dusty here, even in the winter, and the occasional involutary hard shut downs when I am in the middle of something....usually due to some moron hitting a powerline, or Mother Nature playing havoc with us.

I always Turn My PC's off at night because it's just cheaper. And when you have more than 3 Desktops running all the time the power company LOVES you BUT your WALLET DOESN'T.

This Is a question that Doesn't really have a wrong answer.

For me, I always shut it down. I never saw a reason to keep it running, especially when no one was using it.

Here is some good info, just recently updated also. http://apps1.eere.energy.gov/consumer/your_home/appliances/index.cfm/mytopic=10070
