Blacklist of Players

Blacklist of Players

This is a list of screennames on ICO that either are inept at being team players, are completely rude, won't quit after the game is clearly decided and just stays in it to make you spend an hour of your life spamming siege frigates, or incapable of finishing a game (i.e., disconnect, minidump, quit when they lose 1 of their many caps, etc).  This list is by no means complete, so just list your blacklist in the thread and I will add as appropriate.

In no specific order:

  • Bksabath  - Either doesn't speak English or doesn't know how to use chat.  In either case, he doesn't know how to play as a team.  If you go head to head with him, he plays ok though.
  • SnoopDaggo - Spread rumors about [_] that can't possibly be true.  Other than that, you can play with him.
  • IG-87 - Won't quit after being clearly defeated.
  • chaostheory - Isn't as good as record suggests, and disconnects often
  • Exo Geni Co. - This dude has like 300+ games played, but you would never know it playing him
  • itsmavic - Weird behavior, odd tactics, and won't quit when the game is clearly over.
  • MySins - won't quit even when there is no chance in winning.
  • CiniX - won't quit, even when he doesn't have a single ship or planet.  Makes you kill every AI planet.

Quoting Zwanglos, reply 18
@Centurion: I didn't say anyone could sue (in fact, I said the opposite), and I agree with your point. To clarify mine: this kind of action would merit lawsuits when taken out of the internet/gaming context and placed in the real world.
End of Zwanglos's quote

Ah, OK.  I agree with you that defamation can definitely cause significant amounts of hurt in the real world.  I can even imagine situations where punitive damages would seem justified though I don't know if they ever get rewarded for it.

@Hack: Publishing such accusations is libel - I'd say a public forum, which can be accessed by anyone, counts for that.
End of quote

Note that if what you say is true, it is NOT libel.  What you say has to be false or at least very misleading in some sort of way.  So, if what How is saying about these people is true then it is not libel.  "The truth will set you free."  Of course, proving truth and non-truth in court is a very different matter.

Also, what about people who are new to the game and don't know him? Are they supposed to take these denunciations at face value without having ever met the villains in question?
End of quote

Personally, I'd want to go find out for myself.

Ok for all you people who put your 2 cents in and admited you don't game online, or not much at all, do us online players a favor and use your suggested reserve you all have and shut up! You don't game online on Sins yet you have an opinion. Wow! As for the list, thank you how the and yes I agree and it does lots of good to blacklist these players even though they can just make up another name. How many names are they going to make? 20? 200? And who are they? Nobody. because the second they start thier disuptive play they have to come up with another name and poof......nobody again. doesn't matter if they win or lose cause another name has to be made anyway. These guys also won't ever be able to get into skilled games ever because of black list or no record. That has an imediate impact and thank god for that.

These guys on this list and the ones who will be put on soon are not just having a bad day, (with the exception possibly of IG) this is something that they are consistantly doing and more than once with differnt players.

Players like IG who I belive was having a bad day, or got pissed in the heat of battle like most competitive players do, will have to petetion to have thier names removed and prove to offended players that that behavior is not to be expected anymore. Eventually a disruptive player who wants to get back to playing the game and have his name or record or both will have to start acting like a real player instead of an a-hole.

Its like Ebay negative feedback...

Someone who has sold(read played) 1000s of items(read games) , will have alot of negative feedback responses but will still have a 99% positive score. But even tho hes good in 99% of games , he will still be added to the blacklist because of the 1% who didnt like him.

Thats a bit like me. Ive played thousands of games , and im good in about 99% of them. But there are still people i dont get along with in 1% of games which is still about 10!

P5yy - Added to this list because he asked to be.  Self-declared jerk.  Never play with him, mixed bag, emotional creature.

As a new player to Sins I am quite disgusted by the multiplayer community so far - do you really need to name and shame?

I play games to relax and have fun. So far I have had mainly bad experiences from Sins. People 'smurfing' (get a life), so called pro players that join games clearly marked 'new players' whats the point?

Some vets have been nice and given me tips on how to play better and such, while most are egotistical pricks. I don't think any of this helps the very low online presence of the game and threads like this are very damaging for the community as a whole. If I was working for stardock/IC marketing I would pull this thread as this puts off new players like myself ever going back online.

Are you going to make a forum blacklist? If you do i'm sure i'll be on there. You know, for Saints of a Solar Empire....

I actualy thought highly of you as a great person, but this, this is just childish, keep this info to yourself, let people online figure it out and let those black sheep to be pushed aside naturally. When new people se this, people will ask what kind a multiplayer is; this an immature one. This is what turns away new people from getting this game for the online fun that is better than most other games.

Darth, do with the list as you see fit.  I find that having a list that people can colaborate on allows for a more usable list.

Hardly a valid excuse for this list. If people truly are jerks, word will get around without need for a list describing their alleged crimes. Trying to shame them over the report of one person without proof or context isn't helpful to anyone.
