Can you captue pirate bases with culture or do you need to fight them?
But having your culture at the pirate base will help you fleet fight the pirates better.
and it can mean that you don't have to kill the base itself. you can colonize quickly and blow apart the bombing ships while they are busy with trying to get to their former base.
No, culture doesn't drop pirate base allegiance.

you sure? only bcuz i remeber not having to bombard one once... but maybe i just cut my fleet loose in ther and didn't pay attention...oh well
Yeah, pretty sure. At one point in the beta we could, but IC deemed it too easy to get rid of pirates that way since they have nothing to beat back culture with, so now it just doesn't affect them anymore.
Yes, you must bombard, but culture will raise the credit revenue once you have colonized the base.
