How to restore an impulse backup

nothing seems to happen when i choose the backup and click on open

Tried using impulse to restore a backup to 1.12 and it does nothing, i'm assuming its because the vista directory interface does not translate well

Tried using 7zip but do not know the password to my own backup!

Tried my impulse username/password/stardock and all sorts of things

I wanna resotore my old version to play mods, but wanna keep entrenchment installed too!

P.s. this is the first time I have trusted the impulse backup system over making my own backups.

There might be some hiccup since Sins gets replaced by Entrenchment in Impulse once it is installed. Have you tried uninstalling it first?

spending the time to uninstall then re-install the entire game from disk then waiting for the game to update off impulse worked.

Would have been great if the impulse backup restore actually worked though...
