Sins and Entrenchment getting tangled on install

I've just formatted my machine down and reinstalled Vista Ultimate.

I've installed Impulse and am trying to get Sins working.

Prior to formatting I purchased Sins and more recently purchased my way into the entrenchment beta.

Now with neither installed I open Impulse. Go to Install Sins on it's own and when it finishes it shows up as entrenchment. However when I run the game it's just Sins and no sign of entrenchment is there.

Back in Impulse if I right click on sins and choose Verify I get an error saying that entrenchment is not installed correctly. It then shows me the update exclamation point. I then update using the update button. After which sins will no longer load at all saying fmod.dll is not found. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now and the same has happened both times.

I tried searching on the forums but no matter what I type in the search box I always get no matches, even just using the word 'sins'!

I'M TEARING MY HAIR OUT, PLEASE HELP!

P.S. I'm going away for a couple of days, hopefully when I'm back some kind person might have explained how I can fix this.

I have a problem that is similar to the one listed above, Have had SOASE since it came out and it has run fine on my vista machine. Upgraded to impulse and it has run fine with all the updates. Bought and installed the entrenchment add-on on yesterday and after multiple install issues (servers down) it has finally completed the install, now when I go to play I get a frozen black screen on startup and a crash to desktop. Have uninstalled sins and entrenchment and reinstalled twice now. PLEASE HELP!

I had a problem getting entrenchment to run after it was installed,it would thrown an error every time I started it up.

here is what I did:

Delete the game content from program files/stardock games

remove the game from impulse

install the game from impulse

install entrnechment from impulse

Hey there,

Back from my trip.

I've uninstalled and removed everything then started afresh. I now have Entrenchment working but there is still one last quirk that should be noted. If I right click the entrenchment icon and choose verify I get told that the app is not installed correctly. If I run the update and try again I still get warned that the install is not correct. However, the game loads and runs just fine.

Just thought that was worth pointing out.

I'm having a similar issue. Just bought entrenchment. Updated sins, installed entrenchment thru impulse. On start I get a black screen for an instant then back to desktop. No dump file, no entries in the event logs, no error messages.

Is there no other way to fix this then downloading the whole game through impulse? What is the point of my having it on dvd if I have to download it?

Any help correcting this issue would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time.

So uninstall/re-install with the cd, then update sins, then re-download entrenchment worked to correct this.

Am having a somewhat similar issue - I have a slightly older machine (Dell XPS 3 series) running xp - had a fully updated version on sins that worked just fine, bought entrenchment. dloaded and seemed to install fine. However, after about 5 minutes of play, game freezes and does a mini-dump, and boots me out. This is getting very frustrating! Uninstalled and re-installed everything, still same problem. Drivers for video are up-to-date (it's a 256k ATI card older series), no issues with hard drive, etc. Anyone out there seen anything like this, and if so, any known work-around? Now regular old Sins won't even work... Thanks for any assistance!

I've got an even more confusing issue.  I installed SoaSE retail from DVD, updated via Impulse, installed Entrenchment, and now SoaSE is missing entirely from Impulse.  Entrenchment shows up on it's own though.  If I run Entrenchment/SoaSE, it works fine (no crash or anything).  But if I try to verify installation, it tells me Entrenchment isn't correctly installed.  I assume I'm missing SoaSE updates too.  What gives?

Entrenchment will presently replace Sins once installed. If you uninstall, Sins will reappear on the My Games page.

Hi all,

I had Sins 1.12 running with entrenchment beta2 and then i used the update to sins 1.13 because impulse was offering it. After the update i could not run entrenchment or sins any more. Resulted in crash to the desktop. I then tried to uninstall both via impulse, but it didnt work. The error message was something with an missing xml 28,8 or something like this.

So i went into my Vista Control panels > programms and deinstalled it via the OS.

After reboot i found out that the stardock games folder and some files still existed. I deleted those and rebooted again. After that i could install from Impulse again. But after installing SINS 1.13, Impulse tells me that entrenchment is already installed.

Verify tells me that the application is not installed correctly, that i should look for an update. No update is showing. When i use the RUN button under Entrenchment then SINS 1.13 starts.

My Question is how do i get back to a running version of Entrenchment ?

I found a solution to my problem.

The trick was to use refresh after verify and then switch to sins and back to entrenchment icon in impulse so the userinterface updated and the RUN button was replaced by an UPDATE button.

Anyway its working again B)
