How did you pick your screen name

How did you pick your screen name

I was looking at some submissions for the GUI's when I thought to myself, "What made them think of that screen name?"From that thought and many like it, I decided to start this thread to enlighten others who might be asking themselves the same question.

So, if you could please share with the community how you chose your screen name, it would be greatly appreciated!

I'll start, My husband's name is Brian so, inevitably I am Brysgirl!(I'm sure the science behind that was mind-boggling)

I was originally "Mr.Mercury", But at the time I had a company that made custom flight cases which I called "BoXXi Flight Cases". I changed to that because it was short and snappy, and because everywhere else there was a Mr.Mercury. B[]

Wow! It is so great to see the different ways one picks a screen name. I love reading the stories associated with the name. Some are sentimental others are outright hilarious! Thanks for sharing.

My screename comes from a character from a sort of fantasy that's been floating around in my head for a few years now (perhaps someday I'll have the authorial skills to write it down; it's really quite immense). the full name is Reyvin Nokaya Vinnex.  He's an alien.  Yeah, my own alien psychic (telepathic actually) alter-ego with a "brittish" accent (in quotes because he's alien, not brittish).  I use this name everywhere, it's become my penname (at least in my mind).

My user image is a thumb of Minas Tirith from the Lord of the Rings.  I sometimes use a replicator spider from Stargate SG-1.

BTW what's this "karma" thing?

I thought you were going to say it's because you are a former Italian.

When you want to give someone "props" for being kind, helpful, funny, etc., etc., you can press the "thumbs up" icon below their reply to give them karma points.

It's a way to show appreciation to other forum users. ;)

Vinnex: Like Vinnie-a popular Italian name; ex meaning "former," (like "ex-girlfriend")

So, Vinnie + ex = Vinnex!

My Official handle is JukEboX but considering someone is using mine I had to use my secondary.

JukEboX is a name I was given and I gave myself. I listen to music doing anything plus I am good at voice overs, soundfx, and such with just my voice and mouth. The AuDiO part is the fact that I DJ and that I am loaded down with music. Also I have surround sound in just about everything I own.

I have another one known as System because I am like a computer. I bit scattered but very organized and in control.

I see.  But that would mean I changed my name, not my homeland.  My logic is more . . . cold, I guess.  I would say precise, but that would seem to be an insult.

PS;  I'm from Up-State New York (Capitol District, actually, near Albany), and that region has always been my home.

"Onestar" came from a D&D character I played back in college (YEARS ago).

When I got my first full-time job back in '92, I needed to pick a login name.  Folks have a tendency of misspelling my last name, so I picked "Onestar".

It's stuck with me ever since.

Actually back in the day when AOL was the closest thing to an internet service and 33.6 modems were the hottest thing on the planet.(Yeah, there REALLY was a 33.6 modem)<_<   They had an on-line game then called Battle Tech. I loved the game, however, I sucked SOOOooo bad at it that the people in my clan called me their living target.  To make a long story short... it stuck. :annoyed:  After that Quake came out with their 1st installment (see how many of ya remember THAT.. :P ) And my handle got shortened to Livin_Target in order to fit the length restrictions. Since then it's become my standard gaming handle, forum ID and in 3 cases my e-mail addresses. I guess I sort of became the name over time. It seems to fit in so many areas of my life for me. Soo, odds are if you run into a Livin_Target in MOST cases it'll be me. After this long around the net I have become one with ALOT of sites.

LOL .. hadn't really thought about it. Obviously it isn't...    In Quake and Quake2 the underscore wasn't used. I just picked that up while I was playing SoF2. Just so used to typing it that way I didn't even realize I had it in there when I typed that. ;P wow .. can you say brain fart? One of these days I'm going to have to learn to preview. I can spell it I just never seem to do it...

Before my wife and I dated we used to play Descent at the office.  She finally quit playing when we started naming games things like "Susan is a target" or "Susan is base".  :)

Mine came from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Imzadi is a term of endearment between two lovers/soulmates. I actually used it because when it came time to come up with an email addy years ago the Imzadi book by Peter David was sitting in the bookcase next to me. I was trying to come up with something unique and that was it.
