Can We Have A Scalable UI For Next Update

Hey all. Ok well I have a slight problem with Sins Of Solar Empire which has been bothering me for a while now and I haven't seen anyone else post it on the forum yet so here it is. My monitor runs at HD resolution 1920 x 1200 and the graphics look awesome on it, the problem is I find it impossible to play in that resolution for any length of time because the UI is so tiny at the resolution. I always use the Empire Tree to manage my fleets but after about ten or fifteen minutes my eyes are tired from looking at it. As a result I run the game at 1280 x 800 which still looks ok but it is not optimal for my monitor and it looks no where near as good as it does in HD. So if its not too much to ask would it be possible that a scalable UI could be implemented in a future update ?

Thanks for the suggestion Ambro. Scaling a UI is a tricky one because the graphics are raster (pixel based). Some games will stretch these pixels but the resulting quality is poor due to the interpolation.

Perhaps a large, medium, and small UI option?

I agree, I play at 1024x768 just so I can see the UI; any higher res and the eyestrain is just not doable over the several hours it can take to finish a game o_O

I don't have issues on my 24" widescreen - I'm running at the maximum resolution available to me - 1920

Thanks for the replies. I guess stretching the UI would be a bad idea as it would end up pixelated like you said. I like PeterPikers idea of being able to choose between a few different options though, perhaps just the normal size and then the option to make it large would be enough as I expect it would take a bit of time to resize the icons without them looking pixelated. Also with the price of HD monitors coming down now I expect more people will be playing in HD or above and so I imagine this would be a great help to many players.

Hi all

I also run 1920x1200 on hans g 28" full hd monitor and this game looks truly awesome even after several hours I get no strain on the eyes just the ears form wife about the amount of attention sins gets over her ,lol

Well obviously if your lucky enough to have 28" monitor the I don't think anything is going to look small. :) Bear in mind that most HD monitors are 24" though and so have a very high DPI which looks great although it does have a tendency to make user interfaces much smaller than they were intended.

I have a 19", and don't really feel like spending $800+ on a 24-28 inch monitor just to see a game's UI (no mater how much I like Sins).

Sometimes when I'm playing, I get caught up looking at the UI and get slaughtered....   Is there something wrong with me?

I know this won't be possible, but making the UI customizable would be cool too.  There's some stuff I never touch that I'd like to not see on screen.  Or to move the empire tree around and stuff like that...  Ya' know, that's just me being demanding.... haha
