New Account, "Accept", then "Account Name Not Found"...Huh?

How do I create an account?

I preordered Sins way back when it was first announced but haven't had a good opportunity to try playing it until recently.  Today, after installing 1.1, I tried logging into IronClad Online (ICO) for the first time, but haven't been successful.  I went to the Create Account button inside the game, entered a username and duplicate password, pasted in my CD-key from Impulse's "Registration" page (with dashes), and hit "Accept".  And then nothing happened....?  No message about success or to check my email or anything....?  I then tried entering my username and password on the login screen but got the message "Account Name Not Found"...?  Did I make a mistake but never receive an error message?  Is there a password length or criteria I didn't meet?  How do I get onto ICO online?

I'm afraid you will need to contact Iron Clad Online for that information. They can be reached via ironcladgames.com and through support@ironcladgames.com. I would like to help you but Stardock does not over see the Iron Clad Online system for the multiplayer of Sins. If you have questions though please let me know, I'll help if I am able.

I am having the exact same problem as you .  Once I click "Accept" nothing happens.  I even left the computer sitting there for about thirty-five minutes just incase there was server lag or something.  I play online infrequently with friends but I have never tried using the Ironclad Online service until today. I'll try shooting them an e-mail.

It's probably your firewall behind the scenes waiting to confirm your connection. Try running in windowed mode (from the graphics menu).

Thanks for the response Blair, but it isn't my firewall. I Alt+Tab and checked and there was no pop-up, so I checked my firewall setting and Sins of a Solar Empire is set to "Allow." I'm using version 1.1 of Sins of a Solar Empire.

Edit: It doesn't seem to be a port issue either.

I just tried to create a new account and it got hung up the same way. Firewall isn't the issue since I've had it going since beta, and I double checked forwarded ports and everything looks right.

You shouldn't be able to create a new account annatar, your cd key is likely already used. But even still, it should have reported that your cd was in use.

Try now, I made a fix.

For everyone else reading, it should be fixed, worked it out on IRC :P

(I just tried to create a new one to see if it would hang on accept or give me the cd key in use message)

Yes, it is fixed.  I was able to successfully create an account just now.  After you press "Accept" on the page where you typed in a username, password, CD key, and email address, a new window came up that said the account was successfully created.  I was also able to log on immediately.

Apparently there was some kind of server-side problem that was going on.  I emailed Ironclad with the same description as the original post here and received the following response:

Hi Keith,

We were having some issues earlier with account creation, they have since been resolved. Please try to create your account as you did before.

It's definitely fixed.  That's what I call a timely response. Thanks Ironclad & Company.
