DeskScapes version/Dream confusion...

Expired subscription

Do you have to have an active subscription for certain dreams to work?

I used to use the vista ultimate version, then upgraded to an ODT subscription in order to use dynamic dreams such as Desktop Earth/Water Dream/Water Colour etc, however the only application I would use with the ODT sub was Deskscapes and nothing more.

Now that my sub has expired I thought I would revert back to 1.2 of deskscapes for my new vista ultimate 64 rig,

however, the dynamic dreams that I saved to disc will not work under 1.2 as every time I try to play them I get the message that I require a newer version of deskscapes to run them.

I loaded up SD central to see if the dream pack was still availible for 1.2 but it was not (probably due to expired sub) however it does tell me 2.0 of deskscapes is available as an update, so I did, still the same problem, no working dynamic dreams, is this as I suspect due to my expired sub?

I was under the impression even if the sub expired content that was available to me through a sub would not be locked out when expired...

Or is it a fact that dynamic content is just not functional with 1.2?

Seeing as my sub has indeed expired obviously the content pack of dreams is no longer available to me using my recently expired sub details, so all that is available to me is to use my saved dreams and try to make them work with 1.2 or to dload 2.0 and try to make them work with that.

All non dynamic dreams work fine though, if it means I must re-sub to be able to play my fav Water Dream newly updated by Dreamer (cheers mate) then I will do so in a couple of months time, was just curious as to whether or not you must have an active sub to play dynamic dreams or if you need the sub in order to have the updates when installing from scratch on a new system after the sub has expired?

Thanks for the help.

There's a couple ways to do this........

In Wincustomize Forums...go to  "My Account" then the registrations tab....there are links to past and present downloads avaiable to you.

From the Wincustomize Homepage....click settings under your name then the registrations tab (different from the one above)

Probably the best way is to go to https://www.stardock.com/support/ and request your serial numbers be emailed toy you. They come with links to downloads. Or from the same page you can email support and request access to older products.

So...

I dloaded SDCentral/ODT ultimate 2008, after 1st installing SDCentral and then seeing that there are no old sub dloads available to me... such as being able to dload Deskscapes seperately from the 2008 package, I uninstalled and removed all trace.

I then installed ODT Ultimate 2008 and when checking Deskscapes the 4 dynamic dreams where there, however they all refuse to load/run no picture, no animations just a freeze frame of what ever dream or background was running before selecting a dynamic dream to play.

Watercolour/waterdream/DesktopEarth/BouncingBox none of them will work, but all other dreams whether old or new will run perfectly.

Either something is missing in terms of a codec or dll or perhaps the expired sub has some bearing?

Seeing as I am using Vista Ultimate 64bit I do not think a codec is missing, but it is possible soething is missing from the package as only dynamic dreams are affected.

Think i'll open a ticket...
