It's in the videos, the thing that looks like a round tube ![]()
There are screenshots of it and there are also 5 videos out so there are a variety of views of it these as well.
Hey Blair (or Craig) what's the point of it? No offense meant, but we do have the LRM. Maybe I just don't know enough about missiles vs torpedos... ![]()
From what I've read, it's meant to be Anti-Star Base.
Anti Structure
well, lrm is also, but not only a structure killer/ defense counter now. its also a counter to the light units.
this baby is probably totally useless against anything else than structures, but is very good at exactly those, so with increasing defense toughness and range, lrms slowly get replaced as defense killers and limited to their role as light frigate killer.
that at least was my assumption. it was said torpedo "cruiser", so I guess its in the cruiser class and one of the later prototypes to unlock. and maybe quite an expensive toy. heh, some reviewer even called it a superunit weapon, but I doubt its that strong.
Is there a cockpit on this thing? I don't see one, or is it robotic?
haha yeah i agree!!! where is it!!! i didn't look closely but i didn't see any windows or propulsion system... maybe it was a bad video? overall i doubt i'd use these things much other than one or two in case of a starbase. even then i may not get them cuz they look dumb...haha i judge a ship by it's looks usually... ![]()
The more ships the better.
No really......who driving this thing? And I thought the HC was ugly.
being essentially an economist faction, the TEC probably cares fairly little for prettyness. as such, the motto is something like "form follows function". one could argue that there is a certain beauty in that. I don't find them particurly pretty, but - provided they give us some more background on the races - this kind of ships may fit perfectly in the race's atmosphere and philosophy.
don't forget that there has been a similar style for architecture in our own history. look around for the stuff that was built in post war europe during the 50s and 60s, basically also just concrete blocks and still some of them are protected. guess it's just a representation and reminder of the predominant paradigm.
Ships in Sins are on a massive scale, IIRC. LRM Frigates are something like a hundred meters long.
Okay not a cockpit, a bridge...where is it? Every ship should have some feel that it is full of inhabitants. So you care when they go boom, Also planets should have cities, that are destroyed when planets are bombarded.
Maybe it's inside...
Battlestar Galactica did this i believe?
I assume these "Torpedo Crusiers" are simply anti structure, much like the "planet damage only" ships. Much like the planet bombers, there really isn't a need to rn billions of them in a fleet, more about half your normal fleet. So if i run a bigg fleet of oh say, 20 of each frigiate, I'll probably run 10, maybe even five of these new cruisers. However right now i really, really, really wanna see what the Advent Star Base looks like, all we've seen is TEC stuff and it bores me so as I am not a TEC fan. This is assuming all the Star Bases look different.
Yes, all StarBases look different and can be customized quite differently.
Ah good, no offense, but I think the TEC Star Base looks a little tacky, who knows maybe it'll look better in game, I just wanna see the beauty that is the Advent Star Base.
