DeskScapes and WinXP

Just a general question

I remember when Stardock was advertising about Impulse, in Deskscaped was also written that it will support WinXP, in the future. I was pretty happy about that, because i could have animated wallpapers, without using an OS that  i definetely disklike.

Is this development still in progress? Or did Stardock stop it. Since the launch of Impulse i never saw anything about it.

Why do you dislike Vista so much?  Do you have actual experience with the OS or have you just bought in to the anti-hype?

I use Vista on a daily basis and prefer it over XP in nearly every respect.

I do have experience in Vista. I was running it for some time. Even still have it on my virtual machine. I am not just joining the anti-hype. Also my machine has no problem running Ultimate, and this on a virtual machine :)

I dont like the interface, i dont like the coding, i think it wastes resources, it can not do much more than my XP, but uses up much more resources. And a lot of apps i was using for work happen to fail under Vista. Also simply the fact that they give you desktop enchantments only with ultimate is a marketing strategy that makes me even more dislike it. Stuff like this should be provided with the standards, and real application stuff can be added to higher version. But despite this, i just think its a bad OS, and it is overpriced.

I'd actually pay a little money for a plugin that would allow me run Deskscapes on XP if that's what it would take, if it was minimal. I don't see myself needing or wanting Vista. I don't want to start a war about Vista, I'd just really like to be able to run it on XP. Not gonna happen, just thought I'd put in my 2c

You mean an upcoming build will? Really? Yeah, that's great if it's true! I did not know that! I thought at one point I looked into it as much as I could but just saw that it was only supported on the ultimate vista and then all of vista but never xp.? I'm quite happy to be wrong :D

Yes, it isn't out yet of course but the 2.5 version will work for XP. You can have animated wallpaper/dream files work for your XP install.

I just had a terrible thought.. I think my Object Desktop subscription is up in about a month but not sure. I might miss the boat on 2.5? I suppose I could buy it separate though, I think I'm good on the other apps for now.

Will it be a stand alone or might it be included with OD Ultimate?

I believe it will be part of the ODNT 2009 release (scheduled for the 17th I think) and won't require anything outside itself.

Full details on the release of 2.5 are still not set in stone at this time. Development is undergoing a few details that still need ironing out. When we get more information it will either post here or on the news page.
