Simple questions first. What security software are you running? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software yet? Trial or full version?

Whoops, sorry my fingers got ahead of my brain on that one. No there isn't :)  You can just get Logon Studio Vista.

As a matter of fact if you have not tried the uninstall/reinstall and you are not using Impulse you can get it from here:

http://www.download.com/LogonStudio-Vista/3000-2347_4-10696252.html?tag=Stardock&cdlPid=10696253

If you have Impulse I would highly suggest downloading and installing through there.

Thanks but none of this worked, I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, all with no protection running. Tried starting it by using a logon file instead of the program shortcut itself. It's allways the same, the program has stopped working with the same information I posted above.

It used to work fine, in fact I am currently stuck(not such a bad thing) with the ultimate prime screen as my logon and welcome screen.

Something broke and I would have to blame a MS update for it but this program does not work on Vista Ultimate x64 any longer for me. Is there a way to get more information to you? I seen nothing in event viewer, only the information posted above.

Thanks

Hi TeeggerToo

Just a thought here, about a month ago i had the same problems with my SoundPackager under windows Vista 32. Stardock gave me the following support. It sounds like you have a corrupted Log-on screen( in my case sound package), please try deleting your store of Log-On screens(soundpackages), then restart app and redownload your favorite logons(soundpackages) or create your own.

Files found here:

Logon Studio Vista:

SoundPackager: C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Stardock\SoundPackager\*.*

Cheers hope this helps

I also had trouble with LogonStudio after the last update...so I went back to the previous version.

I tried testing this on a few boxes this morning and couldn't replicate this issue (all 64bit Vista). Giga has the right idea I am thinking now. Please try removing the login screens you have downloaded to a quarantine file. From there introduce them one by one and see if you don't find the one that is giving you trouble. Or as suggested you can delete them all and download ones that you want one by one.

That brings up the question that when you uninstall and resintall, with out introducing any new logons, are you able to get it working?

Hi Twegger

Sorry i missed one line in the above reply, you can find your downloaded files here :

First go to folder options in control panel and select "show hidden files and folders".
Then you can navigate to C:\ProgramData\Stardock\LogonStudio Vista\Logons.

TeeggerToo, just to let you know you are not the only one with this problem. I experience the same on a clean Vista32 Ultimate installation, using Impulse. (And yes, Stardock support is working on my ticket).

I'm seeing a common trend here. Is everyone that is having this trouble using Vista Ultimate?

Well, obviously I am. But I installed it from my English Vista Home Premium disk with the CD-Key of my Dutch Ultimate upgrade disks using the upgrade yourself trick (my 32-bit Ultimate disk was damaged). I'm running it in English although the Dutch language pack is installed, and I've installed every update Windows Update offered me, except for most other language packs.

I have the same error on my Vista x64 Ultimate boxes too. Different hardware configurations (one Intel, the other AMD) so it would seem to be some kind of OS/software fault.

Don't know if this is any help in narrowing it down Seabass.

Peter

Ok it's still not working but this is what I did.

I removed everything in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\LogonStudio Vista\Logons and the program still stops working during it's starting.

I invoked the program by double clicking a logonvista file, severel different ones. What did happen though is it did copy and convert the file into the proper place in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\LogonStudio Vista\Logons . This tells me that part of the program is working.

The error:

Description:
Stopped working

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: logonstudiovista.exe
Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.5
Problem Signature 03: 4653894f
Problem Signature 04: System.Windows.Forms
Problem Signature 05: 2.0.0.0
Problem Signature 06: 47577e4b
Problem Signature 07: 19a3
Problem Signature 08: 11
Problem Signature 09: PSZQOADHX1U5ZAHBHOHGHLDGIY4QIXHX
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

This indicates that possibly the problem is happening when it tries to load the windows form for the main program. Maybe there is a version issue of the main windows.forms library, just a guess. If I can supply more information please let me know.

Thanks all that are looking at this.

I did uninstall the version from Impulse and from the Stardock website followed the link to download.com and downloaded version 1.0.0 and this worked just fine, I will keep this for now and keep my eye out for any more updates.

Thanks again

Welcome to the club. I can't get it to work on Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I opened a ticket a long time ago. They offered several attempts to make it work. Alas, it still doesn't work.  :SNIFF!:

These problems with Vista Ultimate and LogonStudio Vista started a long time ago, just after the release of SP1.

There were several threads about this as well. The conclusion was to install the version from download.com.

I personally still hope that Stardock will fix/update the Version in Impulse/SDC though. :)

I noted this in another thread. Please start up a formal ticket with us at support@stardock.com as we have not replicated this issue on Ultimate and SP1 yet. If you can please supply all system info.

Press and hold the Windows key, press R and type the following into the Run dialog:
dxdiag

Once everything loads, please click the "Save all information" button and attach the output file into the support email.

Thank you for your time.

Well, you have my info and so far that didn't seem to help  (:(  So everyone else with this problem, please submit your tickets also so Stardock can find the culprit.

I also use Vista Ultimate 64 bit,and I have tried everything listed here, but nothing is working.

Has anyone (anyone that has tried uninstalling and reinstalling Logon) that does NOT have Vista Ultimate been able to replicate this issue?

We have been doing some testing in support but nothing definitive has occurred yet. In some individual cases we have found solutions but nothing that would work for all.

I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit with the latest SP. The Impulse version does not work. The SDC version does not work. I just downloaded from www.download.com. That works fine.

For everyone that has this trouble please try the suggestion listed above this post.

You can find that download through here:

http://www.download.com/LogonStudio-Vista/3000-2347_4-10696252.html?hhTest=1&tag=lst-1&cdlPid=10696253

If this works for you please let me know so I can further test this error.
