ObjectDock Plus speedup and Tray problems

Making ObjectDock to store all icons in a folder

I use 4 docks, a)apps b)Drives-Folders c)TaskBar d)Traybar  (the apps dock is a tabbed one with tons of stuff all categorized)

First loading ODP takes some time, mainly the apps tabbed dock since it needs to read all the icons spreaded through the system.

1) ObjectDock Plus should be able to store every icon in a single folder so it doesn't need to search through the system for individual images.

2) Some icons in the tray don't maintain their custom icons, they looks blurred and there's one app icon that doesn't show up at all until I restart that specific app.

Otherwise ODP works like a charm and is a real relief to people like me that used to have a HUGE taskbar with lots of icons, now with ODP is not only nicer, all is better organized and I don't need to restore the taskbar on system reinstall which is tedious...thanks for this nice tool.

it does.....C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\My Documents\ObjectDock Library\Images\
However...the larger this directory becomes, the longer it takes to read when you go to assign a new icon to an item. Mine currently takes 15+ seconds.

There are issues with "active" icons which have multiple states like Activesync for instance. This is included in the wish list for version 2.

My ObjectDock library is located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Stardock\ObjectDock Library\Images

However, there's nothing on that folder (system is set to show hidden files BTW). I've done a search on the Documents and Settings folder and I'm sure that's the only Stardock Library folder in my system.

There's nothing on the other folders aswell, only the ini's on my Backed Up Themes folder, this one have the docks I backed up while trying to discover a way to export all the images...

any ideas? hmmmm ;p

...as for the tray dock, that's cool, but I think the icon I refer has no multiple states, is just the icon for the Mixer control panel for my Presonus Firestudio Project pro audio interface, every time I boot the system that icon is blank, and I need to close then reopen it to get my icon.

thanks! :HOT:

You could move all the pngs and icons into the images folder and same with backgrounds into the background folder. Only thing is once you do it you will have to re-assign images and dock backgrounds. That would be a lot of work in most cases. I had to do it when they introduced the new folders.

One suggestion....split your images up into sub-folders under images. Makes them easier to find.

For the icon that's always blank, try right click and hold over the blank spot and when the dialog comes up select a different png for it. Might help might not....it worked for Adobe Photo Loader on my system.

Lantec: I got no images on the images folder...how do I get them all in that folder? Maybe do i need to reinstall ODP?

TX: I tried that at first, I can change the image, but on ODP reload the icon is missing again.

I'd like to add a suggestion.  How about you let users adjust the size of tray icons separately?  Tray icons on my setup are mostly quite ugly as they are stretched too much.  I've noticed tray icons in the Windows Taskbar appear to be smaller than the Quick Launch icons.  I personally don't need these icons to be large at all, and I don't need them to have any effects.     I too am looking for the tray icons to work properly.  For now I just leave the Windows Taskbar running in a hidden state.
