The final days of Milksama

For those that have been around for a long time and/or have used Stardock Support even once you have likely heard of Mike aka Milksama.

On this day July 28th in the year 2008 Milksama ascends from support into the realm of Developer.

You may or may not have heard that Milksama has been coding on the side for some time with Stardock. Having been with the company near three years now he has paid his dues and is being raised from the proverbial "front lines".

We shall miss Mike in the trenches (though we will often pimp him for his knowledge I am certain) but we wish the very best to him and wish to congratulate him very publicly. Please join with me and make the guilt.... I mean praise, thick... er strong, yeah strong.

Congratulations Mike!    :CONGRAT:

I will miss being able to call to him over the dividing wall of our cubes, Mike was always ready to help anyone, and he is going to be sorely missed down here in the support Dungeon.
Good luck Mike!!

Just don't forget the little guys as you climb your way to the top....

eh, who am I kidding, you can only get to the top by climbing on others.

It's great that Mike has moved on to different things . . but I'd liek to point out the very best part of this change . . .

  1. All past mistakes by support can now be blamed on him
  2. All current cases can be closed with no resolution "per Milksama"
  3. All future cases involving anything he's developed are open game for being mocked.
    1. As a sub to that, any bugs found and resolved by support on his code should be rewarded by drinks on him
In all seriousness . . thanks for years of support.  Good luck going forward.

Hey, thanks a lot everyone! It is much appreciated.

I know that even though I will be physically moving and have projects on my plate, I'll still be (at least partially) mentally there in support. mike\apps isn't going anywhere and I hope to actually finish some of the support projects I've started recently so I can finally fill that directory with some apps rather than batch files  :p

There are a lot of people I would like to thank, that have been incredibly supportive both in the community here and on irc. The time and effort you have put into helping others (and basically making my job easier) will never be forgotten.

Remember that if you do need anything, I am only a flight of stairs or a /msg away. ;)

That'll just have to be a new PDR:

"I apologize for the blatant disregard to your problems with our software, but a rogue support adviser, who went by the name Mike or 'Milksama' has been flooding our support channels with poor and improper advice. He has now been summarily punished and shot, and will no longer be of concern to our customers. Now, please try running this batch file he wrote, which may resolve your issue."

Mike, we will miss you. What we won't miss is your stuff, which we have divvied up amongst ourselves. Have fun being a code monkey!

When I read the title I thought it meant you were leaving the company and my reaction was "Nooooooo!!"  :)

I imagine there's a pretty big hand-on knowledge base floating around in that head of yours. If you can get it poured into the programming, it can only be a good thing!

Congratulations, and Give 'er Heck!  :CONGRAT:  :CONGRAT:

May be this is strange but I'm happy and sad simultaneously...

Why I'm sad? Because Stardock Support will lose this GREAT MAN!

And I'm really happy that Mike will make more interesting and important work. Take my Heartly Congratulations Mike! You are one of the best here! No doubt!
