The Beta -- is there anyone else online to play with?

My largest concern about installing the 1.1 Beta is whether or not they'll be anyone to play with afterwards.  I'd prefer not to have to reinstall the game again in order to go back to 1.05.  So, what are the player counts like for those of you who have the Beta?  Is the sacrifice worth it?  Does installing the Beta mean that you can't find games online other than at peak times?

For that matter, has the Beta solved the hosting problems?

Please see this thread in reference to whether or not Alloy (the new MP netcode) works as advertised. :)

On average there are about 15 people online in the beta - None of which are available to join games. I have yet to find a time when there was anyone there at all who was not either already in a game, or AFK.

I don't usually play during "peak times," so I don't know how many are online during say, a Saturday night.

There is no way to tell if Alloy works if there is nobody to try it with.

One of the problems is that many of the people who play online don't even know that the Sins forums exist nor that there is even going to be a 1.1 patch let alone a Beta. I do find it rather sad that people would play a game and never think to investigate whether or not it had a webpage or community discussion forum associated with it.

Has anyone tried having two installs of Sins?

I have the two versions installed!!!!

1.Copied all the files of the 1.1 version on "...Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire" to "...Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire 1.1".

2.Then I uninstalled game on impulse

3.Opened stardock central and installed sins normally and thats is... I have the two versions.

p.s. the only problem is that you need to reconfigure the game everytime you enter... and when u open version 1.05 there is a error, I choose skip all and get to the game...

p.s.2 I was telling to people about the patch on 1.05 and they were like: "what patch"
"I will wait untill they finish beta" "The new patch does not support german version"... This is sad, really :(

I can confirm that I can host now, yay! However, I couldn't find enough games so I am back to being a v1.05 brat. When there are sufficient numbers on the beta, I will get back in.

i mostly play with my friend over a direct connection.

I love this Game for Multiplayer and that was the reason i bought the game.

But i just have more fun to play with people where i can save the game an reload later.
On general multplayer u often cant get the players back in duty after a day or so :/

but i just downloading the beta and will take a look i the channel :)

As i play for fun and not for a big competition i will be an easy enemy but the netcode will say "thanku for teh game" :)

For two versions it whould be a good idea to install the games in the same folder and just rename ist in sins11 and sins105 or so. Export the registry of sins after the installation and dont forget to make a duplicate form ure sins documents and settings (users in vista) folder. So i think u dont have any errors, but u have to switch folders and registry everytime u start the other game. With a batchfile it need just 5 secs :)

IF everyone carries that attitude, the beta will never be populated...

@CommanderAdama Read my other posts on why I left the beta. It's flat broke - how can you test the beta (i.e., balance) when people exploit a bug all the time. When the devs fix the fighter bug, I will go back to beta testing, and convince others to as well.
