ship/planet management problem

O.K. I love the Dark Avatar guide and couldn't wait to try out some of the shortcuts. The most important one for me was the ship/planet management screen. Cool but it doesn't work for me! This is what happens:
1. I select a planet I want to colonize.
2. I click F1 to bring up the management screen so I can find a colony ship.
Now the view switches to the sector with the ship whose next turn it is. In the guide it shows the destination planet and the management screen together. I can't get it to stay on the view of the destination sector.
What, did I miss something?
