Firefox 3 menu skinning

Firefox 3 menu skinning

One of the features of the new Firefox 3 web browser was supposed to be native widgets and menus.  I'm noticing that with FF3.0 and WB6.11(Build 58)/XP-SP2, all my Firefox menus are using Windows Classic theme.  Is Stardock working on better Firefox support?

I just downloaded FF3 and my menus are fully skinned. No tricks.

Ok, FF is too buggy here. Back to IE. ;)

It does add a stripe down the left side.

Must be a Vista thang, no skinning on XP.

This must be a difference between XP and Vista. All the screenshots here showing a skinned FF menu are from Vista (you can tell from the blue back/forward FF buttons).

So do I need to do anything else about this? Can someone from Stardock acknowledge they've got it logged?

You are such a tease, Zu. ;p

The menubar background and the toolbar skin very nicely in FF3, with skinned toolbar buttons, much cleaner than in IE7. However, my menubar buttons, menus & menuitems are unskinned here on XPP SP2. I searched through all the appearance add-ins on Mozilla's site & found nothing that would enable menu skinning.

Now that you've had your fun with us, Zu, care to enlighten us further?

FF3 on XP is not skinning menus for me.

Fuzzy is just digging in his FF folder to make those menus John. It's nothing to do with WB...

WB is skinning the menus  ;)

Of course I haven't used XP since last year  ;)

Vista skinning is so much more complete.

Running on Vista, FF3 grabs the menu images from the IE favorites menu.

If the skin author hasn't skinned that section, FF will use the popup menus.

That strange colour is FF adding a band of grey transparency on top of the image, at a guess I'd say 192.192.192. Pity you can't skin that bit.

I just discovered that that band of color is not a FF3 issue. It is controlled by the skin defined system colors section in sks.

To get rid of it, you need to set your menu color (highlighted in blue in the screenshot) to the same as your background image.

maybe I worded that wrong :p

I was just so thrilled to get rid of that color I wanted to share it with y'all. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know........

That color should always match (closely) to your menu or you'll see some ugliness in some programs but good find 2of3. :)

More a Vista/FF3 issue, since menus are unskinned in XP (:( .

I do not believe the Firefox menus are 'real' menus.  Which is why they do not skin on XP.  On Vista they ask for the theme menu skin.

I'm actually starting to wonder if the difference is the fact that FF3 uses different themes on Xp and Vista. I wonder if they only added the native menu skinning to the Vista theme.
