Novalith Cannon Bug

Hello all, I am a new player of Sins of a Solar Empire and I have thoroughly enjoyed it thus far.  I started playing the very first pre-made map in the single player section, and captured a planet immediately connected to the Pirates homeworld.  Originally, I planned to build a Novalith Cannon and blast them to high hell so I wouldn't have to worry about paying bounty.  However, shortly after I give the order to build it my LEV stops doing so.  Whats worse is that when I order it to continue construction I get the message "That option can only be used on nonconstructed structures" or something like that.  Worse yet is that this unfinished structure still takes up all those tactical slots and none of my LEVs will build it!  Is there something I'm missing about the Novalith Cannon?

Have you researched the tech to build a nova cannon?

It Sounds like the research for the cannon is not yet finished. You can give the order to build it, but it won't begin before the research is complete. Hover your cursor over the research button, and you should be able to see the percentage for the research.

Is it possible that someone knocked down one of your military labs? If so it will just stop during construction and resume when you're back up to 8 military labs. Just happened to me in a game.

No the research was definitely done and my research labs were there (I just checked). All I can think is that this was some kind of bug in the older version because once I updated the game the old saved game files were no longer valid. Perhaps the updated version saw them as corrupted? I don't truly know what was going on, hopefully tonight I'll get it working again when I get that far with the updates.

Saves are not generally compatible between versions.
