Collecting Bounty?

I've just started playing the Vasari and noticed that in the first tier of research I can upgrade "collecting bounty" .  When do you get to collect bounty, I thought you only put bounty on other players for the pirates?

The bounty put on a player's head is actually not only for pirates. That means if you destroy ships or structures of an enemy player who has bounty on his head you get a certain amount of that money. That has two effects:
1. You earn money destroying ships and structures
2. The bounty on that player decreases and thus the pirate threat against that player decreases as well.

The vasari tech then simply gives you x% more money than you would actually earn when killing enemy ships and structures.

Note that you can't collect the bounty YOU place on another player. If you're playing a 1v1, the only faction that can collect bounty is the pirates.

You know you can collect bounty on another player when you bring up an infopanel for any of their destructable ships or structures, or planets - if someone else beside yourself placed bounty on that player, it'll tell you the bounty value for it.
