Arceans are dominating my game

Event that makes them more powerfull every turn

Hi everybody!

The arceans in my game were small, weak, and generally no threat. But due to an event, the one which makes them more powerfull every turn, they have turned into an unstoppable juggernaut.

I had this event in an earlier game, here it effected the iconians, and they never grew so powerfull as the arceans, thats why i didnt pay much attention to it (big mistake!!).

You see at the time, the krynn consulate and the drengin empire were the most powerfull, so i payed attention to them, bribing them into wars to keep them busy, which worked quitte well.

But then the arceans got hugely powerfull, so i bribed the 3 most powerfull civs in declaring war on them, well those 3 got their butts kicked. And the arcean military power is growing exponentially.

They still havent got much planets, and a low population, so there is still a chance to stop them. But how do i do this?

Here are some pictures of their empire and stats:

My own military is almost non-existant, i play this game as a builder. And build up a nice empire, and are currently culturally assimilating the torians.

I can think of 3 possible ways of how to deal with the arceans:

1: Research weapons, and build a fleet.

2: Try to culturally assimilate them.

3: Build alot of terrorstars, like 10 or 15, and blow up their stars taking out most of there planets, before they have a chance to strike back.

I personally think option 3 is the way to go, there territory is still limited, and they have 25 planets, most of them orbiting around 10 or 15 suns, so 15 terror stars should take out about 90% of there planets.

But that could take awhile to research, and i have a feeling the arceans are about to expand throughout the universe.

Anyone has thoughts, ideas or other tips?

Greetings from Holland.

1) In production they are third. Are you one of the 2 races that can catch up with the Arcean military production?

2) How is your relation with the Arceans? If you're getting along fine, I'd go for cultural assimilation, building maximized influence starbases near their production planets. Usually as long as you keep enough elements that lead to positive relations (diplomacy, trade, treaties, alignment, etc.) you have some buffer where you can spam them with starbases without getting into war. It's best to move fast though, immediately build out those starbases to get over the flipping threshold of the nearby planets. This option would be my favourite.

3) Why are they ranking 1st in military: plenty of weaker ships or fewer large ones? That may give an idea whether you can fight them with a fleet: if they have many weaker ships, a big one with some defenses can do a great job. Since they have a relatively small population, invasion might be an option if you can decimate their fleet first, in spite of their high tech ranking.

4) Terrorstars take a long time to research and produce ánd you need quite an escort fleet to get them safely to the star they have to blow up... So you'd need to research military techs and build a fleet in any case.

Well i chose the terror star approach, blasted there 15 stars and took out 32 of there planets.

Unfortunately they expanded into krynn territory with about 10 colonies left now. They are certainly more managebable now, but still form a large threat, so i bribed everyone into peace with eachother, and to declare war on the arceans.

So its now 1 big dogpile on the arceans, and there still holding firmly!!

There ships were a mix of frigates and battleships, they have around 200 attack ships.

Oh and i got the jagged knife event, and 130 ish planets defected from all the races, i lost 22 planets out of 65.

Certainly an interesting game lol.
