WindowFX On Vista Home?

I've tried to install WindowFX 3 on my Vista Home Premium 32-86. The configure window works, to a point, but you can't get transition previews. Then FX doesn't show minimize or maximize effects, it just freezes the window. The menu effects work beautifully, however.  I've tried turning on and off Vista Desktop Window Manager, and Windows Aero. There may have been more bugs, I got frustrated and turned FX off.
In my opinion, my XP Media and WindowFX with CursorXP and WindowBlinds was about 30 years ahead of where my Vista is now. Sadly, my motherboard committed suicide, and a new computer was cheaper than a fix. XP was not available for sale, I checked.
Also CursorXP works, but shuts down Windows Sidebar, and Task Manager. Possibly more, again I got frustrated and turned it off.
WindowBlinds 6 seems to be just as incompatible. And I also tried changing the compatibility in all three programs to run with XP SP2 in the properties tab. No luck.
I've checked the Forums and found that others are having difficulty as well, but I didn't see any possible solutions. Can anybody help me?!? I 'luuuvve' my Stardock enhancements and don't want to lose them to an overprotective OS.

I'd switch from CursorXp to CursorFX.

WindowsFX is not Vista ready yet and may or may not work with some features.

What problems were you having with WB 6?

Please do not set compatibility settings on files as doing so can cause serious issues.  This is especially true if these settings are set on Impulse or SDC.

D**n Vista! WB6 just sort of sputters to a complete stop, then freezes my system. I have NVIDIA GeFore 615OSE nForce 430, which I believe to be my graphics card. My computer is 3 weeks out of the box, AMD quad core and 4GB
RAM. You would think I would have no problems with special effects, huh?
I can get a different theme applied, but then any movement of any window, menu, or program causes a 'magic pink' bordering effect shortly followed by glitches until finally freezing. Not quite the effects I had in mind.
