Mega-Lag in Multiplayer after several hours...?

First of all: I didnt find a solution for this, even after searching the forum for quite some time.

I am playing in Multiplayer with 2 Humans and rest AI. Full Game, Huge Random Multi Galaxy. The first 1 or 2 hours all works fine. After 2 or 3 hours, the game gets incredible laggy. For the Host (me), this means: every minute or so, the game is stopped for 10-20 seconds (not freezed, more like "paused"). For the Client this means Lag througout the game of about 5-10 seconds.

Our system specs are quite good: Athlon X2 5400+, 4 GB Ram, ATI 3870, Win XP.
As is our internet connection: broadband, DSL 4000 and DSL 16.000 (Downstream: 4 Mbit and 16 Mbit, Upstream: 60k and 80k). Lines are tested and perform well. Same happens while playing by Hamachi.
Theres not a problem in single player for the both of us.
Changing graphical options hasnt brought a solution.

My guessing: The game cant handle hundreds and hundreds of units over Internet?

Any suggestings so far?

Are you playing with any Advent players? There is a problem with the Malice ability which is causing this kind of behaviour, we're looking at it right now.

wow, first official response on this, nice. i'd suggest checking all of the AoE effects, it might not just be Malice (at least fix the graphics stacking of Guardians, thanks ;)

Yes, as the AI Players are random, there are all races present.
is there any workaround so far or is it just "unplayable" until any official fix (guess some months...)?

for me it's large Advent vs Advent battles. after half an hour of slideshow (about a minute of game time) it resolved itself and went back to normal (until the next Advent vs Advent battle lol).

Its nothing of a slide show here. FPS are good. Its just the constant "pausing".

The problem is the memory leaks... ctrl+alt+tab after a couple of hours and look at your ram commitment after about 2 hours of game play almost all of my ram is filled with crap a reboot clears it and your good for a couple more hours.

was hoping for a response in my thread, but as long as it is being looked at I'm happy

I agree. You are probably experiencing memory leaks. Save the game when it starts to get bad and redo it.

There is no memory leak. Error occurs even when reloading after reboot.

Same experience as OP. Specifically...

Multiplayer game, hosted on my machine.
3 Humans
3 Hard AI
Large - Random map

I was the only Advent, and was out of combat for the majority of the lag (so not Malice). When I was in combat with Malice, there was no change (lag did not increase or decrease).

All machines are easily within specs, my machine in particular.

From my (host) point of view, game would freeze every 15 seconds or so. It would stay frozen for about 10 seconds, then start back up.
From other (client) point of view, game was just laggy as hell.

Any fix for this? Or workaround? My friends and I were going to start a weekly Sins night, but large Sins games usually aren't over in under 90 minutes.

Bump for news? I'm trying to host a Tuesday-night Sins thing amongst my friends, and this lag things kills it.
