The bios has no effect on programs installed on your computer.

I would, at this stage, suggest your install of Vista is not all it should be...

Was he wearing a trench coat? Did bios report this?

Oh wait you had a software question. It's like Fuzzy said it's your OS install. All Stardock programs that are shown to be compatible with Vista Ultimate 64 should install without a hitch. Check the Stardock programs page to ensure your installing the correct versions. Here's the link in case you don't know where to start looking WWW Link

Don't know what else to say there daygo. I hope you figure it out.

You can also use SDC to check on release info. For example click on Object Desktop in SDC then click on Icon Packager and finally look for the word History in red at lower right and click on it. You will see this in the version history release notes:

3.20a beta
--------------
-Added support for Windows Vista x64
-Changed default directory for extracted icon packages to match other Stardock applications
(%AllUsers\Documents\Stardock\IconPackager).
-A migration function has been added to the installer to migrate existing installed icon packages
to the new location.
-Fixed bug where if you had changed the location of your Documents directory, some folders would fail to change icons.

I'm not British but, cheers mate.

what is the version no. of object desktop, for vista users.
Object Desktop is a collection of programs/applications. Each program has it's own version #. If Vista is installed correctly and you use Stardock Central to install the different applications, then you will only receive the Vista version(s) of the programs.

I would suggest a reboot AFTER each installation and BEFORE running the installed program. I would also suggest NOT running the programs from Stardock Central but from the Start Menu like the other software on your computer.

Hi daygo. My instructions for how to validate the installed version of the various Object Desktop programs are clear enough for most computer users to follow. As I recall in a prior thread, you had indicated you have Vista Ultimate 64 installed on your machine. That is an OS for a compter savy power user. :)

Might I suggest that if you like skinning your desktop that you consider using MyColors instead? It applies the theme directly using runtime versions of Stardock programs. Easy to use just register, download and click apply and your desktop will be themed for you. As an owner of Object Desktop you will receive discounts on the professionally developed themes you decide to purchase. And, you can keep you Object Desktop programs as well.

This will give you time to learn more about your computer, your OS and how to manage your programs. I think you need some Vista computer classes. ;)

afraid you are mistaken, am on vista 64 bit oem system builder home premium version. found out that by using the start menu the parts of object desktop that are there do work, i even get the windows fx up, and the desktopx never done that before, message use to come up not working closing programme, so thats a bonus, question is how do i get the different programmes onto the start menu, do not know how the ones that are on the start menu, got there, there are 4 of them at present, would like at least 4 more.

If you struggling with basic things like putting shortcuts on your start menu, you shouldn't be messing with desktop customization. These programs are not for beginners.

pity they dont say that before you buy it.

Ok, When you say "do not know how the ones that are on the start menu, got there, there are 4 of them at present, would like at least 4 more", that is windows just being windows. You can adjust how many total programs are on the left pane but, windows chooses which programs go there by frequency of your use.

I think you need some Vista computer classes.

This wasn't meant to be an insult. Your statements and questions indicate this. There are other ways to access your programs, including basics such as placing shorcuts on your desktop. I, however, do not intend to go into the details of how to go about this.

Explore your own computer and look for any tutorials or help files your computer maker supplied. Check out microsoft.com.

Fuzzy, I think, is trying to indicate many of your questions and statements are really outside the scope of these forums and just indicate you are very much a novice. It's no big deal. Go learn.

The vast majority of Stardock products have 'trial' versions where you can see what they can do 'BEFORE' you purchase. Unless you know the basics of computers it is almost impossible to explain how to fix the errors you are experiencing unless someone is by your side showing you what to do.

You are way over your head using "vista 64 bit oem system builder home premium version" with the limited computer knowledge you have demonstrated by all the support questions you have posted. For your own enjoyment of using a computer and reducing the frustration for you and those attempting to assist you, PLEASE follow previous suggestion(s) and take a computer basic course.

From what you are demonstrating in your replies this is not Stardock program issues but user issues.

Have you considered a plan with 'GIGO Insurance' ?

what the heck is gigo insurance enlighten me.

Garbage In, Garbage Out (abbreviated to GIGO) is a phrase in the field of computer science. It is used primarily to call attention to the fact that computers will unquestioningly process the most nonsensical of input data and produce nonsensical output.

That would be good insurance if you could never make a cock up when using the computer. :d

Daygo...there is a stardock app called the Theme Manager. It applies a whole suite of skins at once. *Usually* a windowblind, icon package, wallpaper, etc.

If you go here: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=22

You will see some of the suites available. Most are free and they are VERY easy to apply using the theme manager.

good luck

What he NEEDS is to take a basic computer course so that he can (hopefully) understand how things are supposed to work. Until he has the basics and understands the basics it doesn't matter if it's easy or not so easy, he will still have USER errors.

you are all forgetting one small itsy bitsy thing, i cannot at present access any programmes from object desktop, except the ones i have just recently put on my desktop, ( through sdc that is )
And besides you, what is stopping you from accessing Object Desktop programs? A little while ago 4 of your Object Desktop programs were appearing on yout start panel and you were wondering how this occurred and how could you get more to appear. I responded:

You can adjust how many total programs are on the left pane but, windows chooses which programs go there by frequency of your use.

You can also readily find this sort of information in windows help files which are already on your computer and any Windows tutorials you may also find there. Putting shortcuts on your desktop is a simple windows task that all windows tutorials explain. I'm sure that information is also already on your computer if you look for it.
