Gadgets won't after Vista update

Vista SP-1 Upgrade via Windows Update

Last night, I updated Vista by installing SP-1 via the Windows auto-update feature.

Since that time, none of my gadgets will work. For example SD launchbar, Pirate set of gadgets, Magic set of gadgets. I have attempted to run with XP compat plus as Admin and nothing I have tried works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

Thank you for the suggestion. My settings were already at that level.

Some gadgets, such as K-Tek clock, do not even start, clicking the exe file does nothing. Others, such as Pirate clock, attempt to start and a message box pops up indicating the program has stopped working.
I do not have DesktopX installed on this machine and have therefor not tried Widgets.

Thanks again. I realize Vad's expertise in this area, in fact I am using SD Desktop on my laptop, but I am reluctant to start running registry-changing commands I know little about based on that one thread.

I intend to purchase the new Desktop X when it is released and I think I will wait until then before I do anything else. Assumedly if that registry change is required, Stardock will be making it via their product release. I do appreciate your suggestion though but my experience with Vista leaves me very cautious.

Enable UAC, I went thru this month's ago going thru the beta. You can adjust the uac notifications with tweak vista.

Thanks to both who offered help. I had failed to reboot when I enabled UAC. I have enabled and rebooted and all is well. Thanks again.
