Thanks Leo for the update, but I'm waiting for it to get through beta, just as I am for SP3 for XP.  ;)

Been playing with IE8 for just over an hour now and I'm pretty impressed. It's very responsive and loaded the pages here at WC quicker than I have experienced with IE7 and much faster than FF2. I like the new Activities feature and I must try the Webslices feature later. If any of you are wondering, you do not have to uninstall IE7...Just download the IE8 version specified for your OS and it will do everything for you. Simple and easy, plus there is an Emulate IE7 button in the toolbar so you can whizz back to IE7 at any time.

The first and only issue that I've come across so far was on this site. When I move my mouse over the toolbar on the 'Add A Reply' on the forum threads it goes wacko but not sure if that's IE8 or some issue or work in progress on the WC forums.

If anyone is expecting any big changes to the 'look' or GUI then you will be disappointed BUT there will be changes and they will be released later in the beta process.

I'd like to see a spell check intergrated into the browser, like iespell but we'll have to see.

I don't usually touch beta's but this seems very stable. I'm impressed Microsoft and i have got to take my hat off to the IE8 team for what looks like something special in the making. Great job, guys.

I'm just a plain old 'Joe Bloggs' user and it will be interesting to see what some of the developers think of it. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Morzilla offices

Great. I used to like IE, but IE7 came along. Slow, slow, slow. Problems on multiple computers, it was a mess. I will check out IE8.

It doesn't seem to like the forum software's layout, though. It keeps showing messages under folks' avatars rather than beside them.

Hmmmmmmmmm!!! hold the euphoria, Leo. I just tried loading WC again in three different browsers - IE8, IE7 and FF2 - quite a few times and IE8 was a bit sluggish this time plus it screws with the lay out and toolbars in the forums. So maybe not quite as good as I first thought :)

All the more reason to stay with 6.. they buggered up 7 so badly I'd be hesitant to say the least.

Yep, IE8 seems to 'jerk around' with the forums layout etc. This problem is not repeated in either the IE7 emulation mode or FF2.

Still on 6 here...7 looks like vista. ;)

Guess I'll wait on that then.

Use 7 just for the tabs. And only part time. Use Opera the rest of the time.

It is interesting how we can have several folks use the same software, whether IE, FF or essentially any software and get varying degress of operation from no problems to all kinds of problems. Folks have problems using SDC and it's browser, go figure.

It always makes me wonder if there is something else, another program, settings in the computer that is the real root of the problem that the user may not even be aware of.

Just wondering.  ;)

I am only using 6 browsers right now,
I could use a few more.

If you know how to use it - this is a better browser than 7 for sure. Soon the net is gona change the way things are presented and those old browsers are going out the window as others have in the past. Believe it or not the day is fast coming!
8 looks rather nice here with the forum. I have no problems with anything thus far. Did have to switch emulations tho for some sites. But seems to be a bit faster now.
I'm ready for the next windows and this is a breaking ground event for just that here.
Soon we all will have to do something to catch up with the rest of the world and it's fast moving tech.

I wouldnt expect any of our sites to look right under IE8 unless youre running in IE7 emulation mode. The sites arent setup to detect IE8 and would instead think you were browsing with IE6, hence serving really nasty css.

Stardock websites are definately NOT the ones you want to use to test unless youre running IE8 under IE7 emulation mode.

Supposedly IE8 adheres more properly to strict HTML. All my techie coder friends are excited over it. Note that this release is meant for developers, not users.

Oh Great, something else to break my PC. Yes of course I'll try it. The warnings of wait...don't...wait until a complete release...stability issues....will fall upon deaf ears. *sigh*

It would be nice if they got IE7 working properly before going on to something else  :(
