I only play Advent against AI and i haven't yet seen any indication that my culture was stronger than my opponents. I research it and build lots of communion platforms, yet my opponent's culture seems just as strong as mine.

Is there any way to tell exactly how strong your current culture is? It would be nice if any bonuses your culture gives you or negatives it affects your opponents with could be easily visible.  Or is there just something that i'm missing?

You can go into the diplomacy screen to view the various ranks. For example, it'll show you how your culture rank compared to others.

There are various techs you can research to improve culture. I'm going from memory here, but there is one that grants you a percentage bonus to push back opponent's culture (Wall of Faith: 40% max I think). Also the colored lines you see is your culture spreading.

There are two different techs also that culture plays a part in. One of them allows you to see planets where your culture is spreading (Eyes of the Converted) the other is False Belief Monitoring, which allows you to see the spread of culture anywhere.

I would imagine researching the tech in the Harmony tree that improves the spread of your culture is as important as "spamming" Temples of Communion.

When you get a chance open up the PsiTech tech tree and look at what you can research that effects allegiance and culture.
