Additional skins won't work in WB6

Hi

My installation of WB6 will only apply the skins that came with it and the skin that appeared when I added the premium skins package.  All other skins downloaded and added to WB simply won't apply.

Thi is what happens: Skins appear to install in WB ok, but when I select one and click on 'Apply my changes', nothing changes.

Interestingly, WB thinks the skin is applied after this, because it it says so if I try to delete the skin.  I also noticed that if I reboot after trying to apply one of these additional skins, I get the windows classic interface.

Have deleted and reinsalled, and downloaded the very latest version.

BTW - Demo version worked fine.

Any ideas on how to fix this welcome!

Thanks

Open the WindowBlinds Configuration screen and click on "System info" and then "Copy text". Paste that info here.

Did you uninstall the demo version before installing the purchased one? One of your files seems to be a carry over so I would uninstall WB6 and reboot then reinstall WB6 and reboot. Post System info again.

Hopefully this will fix your issue.

Yes, looks like a paid version installed over the Trial version, go with Hankers advice.

To verify:
You uninstalled all versions of WB
Rebooted
Installed the current version (from where?  Stardock Central?)
Rebooted
??

This is what I've done:

1 Uninstalled using the option in Stardock Central (checked the box for delete all files and skins)
2 Rebooted
3 Installed from a backup in SC
4 Thought that was a pretty daft thing to do do, so uninstalled again from SC and rebooted without running WB
5 Reinstalled with a fresh download via SC
6 Rebooted
7 Rogramme ran at PC startup.

If it's not removing a file, I can alsways go in and delete that.

If you take a look within C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\documents\stardock\WindowBlinds, do you see Turbo listed within the folder there, or is it maybe located at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds? You will want this to be located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\documents\stardock\WindowBlinds, so go ahead and move it over if it's not already there.

noticed that if I reboot after trying to apply one of these additional skins

Which other skins were you seeing?

Thanks.

Turbo is not in either location.

Other skins showing are:

Windows classic
Windos XP
Random skin
Adamant (downloaded but not working)
Classic
Diamond
Leo
Molten

Turbo was there in a previous installation, and it did work.

Which file seems to be the carry over? I've never had a trial installed - did a straight update last night and today my system info shows:

I got it working. Thanks everyone for your help!

I uninstalled SDC and all the SD apps, and then reinstalled the trial version of WB6. That worked fine. So I uninstalled it, and then reinstalled. SDC and WB6. But the problem came back.

The only thing that I could think of was that the skins could be stored in a different place in the registered version, so I looked at the Shared Documents folder. Somehow, this had become renamed in the registry (!?). So I sorted that out, uninstalled WB6, cleaned the registry of all references to WB and reinstalled.

Bingo! We’re in business.

My experience here, is that that everything else can looked fine but if the shared docs folder in XP shows a different name (even though it is in the right place and all the skins are in there) any additional skins won’t apply.

I spoke too soon. WB6 stops accessing addiitonal skins when I reboot. An uninstall/install fixes it untill the next reboot. I'm looking for an easier solution!

Any ideas?
