Stardock Positions available

What positions we need to fill

Stardock is a pretty fun place to work at. That's probably why our turnover is so low. In fact, I'd say much of our success rests on the fact that we have such low turn over.  And our rapid growth has created all kinds of opportunities that we haven't had before.

Stardock is located on south eastern Michigan. The weather is very pleasant here in this part of the state most of the year with Winters being well..wintery but not brutally cold. It's pretty hard to compete with Michigan weather in the Spring/Summer/Fall where it's beautiful and not too hot or too cold most of the time.  This Winter, we'll be moving to a brand new buiding that we're very excited about because it is in such a great location, very nice environment, and whose interior we have collectively, as a team, designed.

So what positions are available presently?

Darn me for being stuck in Texas (finishing some post-bac work).... Owell I'm not an ideal candidate anyhoo.
Yeah, if I wasn't moving to Texas, the media relations would probably be right up my alley.

Can any remote person apply for these posts. Like I live far far away from SD Location but I am interested in becoming Tech. Advisor / Media Reltion Laison. Can I apply???
I recall Brad specifying earlier on that all SD jobs had to be on site. This really does make sense, for several reasons. Its just really frutserating for all of us =P.

well, it really makes sense, actually. For someone at a remote location, there can be logistics problems that can limit Brad's ability to effectively communicate with his team, as well as that ever present possibility that the remote empoloyee's doing a lot of slacking on the company dime.

Might apply for that.. very willing to move. I'll need a front wheel drive car though (for the snow)

You guys should hire me hehe. I'm about 10 minutes drive away, and would probably quality for 3 out of the 5 positions. 10+ years of sales and sales manager experience with a Fortune 500 firm. 4 years of CEO experience (ISP and Software Dev company), as well as marketing of software products and business to business negotiations. Formerly wrote a computer column for a major newspaper, and a couple of other rags.

Overall i'd consider myself a computer expert as well, anything I don't know, I can pick up rapidly. Limited experience with graphics/design and programming, as well as strong networking and security, and of course, gaming experience. Heck i've even worked as a paid beta tester before for Spinnaker Software - remember them? I can't tell you how many times i'm "That Guy" that solves some technical problem, or bug with a product that i've purchased - and not paid to solve! Most recently I remember solving a problem for Blizzard about why their World of Warcraft beta wouldn't install on many machines, I narrowed it down to the installer for some reason, not supporting PC's running faster than 3.2Ghz.. Go figure.. Hehe

Anyway, i'm local, hardworking, clean cut, professional and ready to go.

how do you want my resume. Is MS-WORD good
Reply #14 Top
Media Relations Laison seems right up my alley, however I've just purchased a nice new home in North Houston.

Good luck filling these positions Brad. I know the most difficult obstacle will be finding people that expand Stardocks excellent reputation for quality and innovation.

MS Word would be fine as a way to submit your resume.

Anyone who is interested in a position should email bwardell@stardock.com as requested rather than waiting for people to come to you having posted here.

Damn, where were these jobs 3 months ago when I was still job hunting?! I would have killed to work for you guys.

Word format is good for resumes.  Please include a cover letter with salary requirements and state the position that you are applying for.  All positions are at Stardock.  We need people in house, not remote.

It's a fun place to work!

Here be Mapquest's answer: Link.

I used to live "nearby" on Lake St. Clair in Sarnia, Ontario -- decent weather except for the odd "lake effects" (e.g., huge snowstorms, high humidity). I remember seeing lots of commercials for used cars from Livonia.

Hey, you guys didn't have Mel Farr Superstar, did you?

I remember Mel Farr.. My dad use to work for him actually.. lol.

Weather in south eastern Michigan is pretty mild. First off, when there's significant snow we just don't come in and that's pretty rare (i.e. if the roads are bad we just work from home). But generally it's not terribly cold here in the Winter. It's nearly October here and I wore shorts to work (70 degrees). The problem Michigan has from a PR point of view is that it's a very vertically sized state. South Eastern Michigan is at the same latitude as northern California.

Zoomba: Well, that's *one* way to create openings . . .

"I wore shorts to work" - remember Brad - You're trying to attract people to work for you
