Multimedia upgrade?

I found a few references to the multimedia upgrade in the forum, but none of them really answered the question of...what the heck is it? Does it add a bunch of hypnotic disco lights and talking flowers to the game? Does Pink Floyd's 'Is There Anybody Out There' start playing as background music? Or...does it do absolutely nothing? I know there was a problem with the size and all that. I have the retail version of the game. Do I download this thing, or what?

:notsure:

Er, actually, that should have been 'Hey You' and not 'Is There Anybody Out There'. Chalk that up to extremely late hours at work.... >:(

If you installed from the commercial CD or the full zip that you can download you've already got it. It is the intro and victory movies, the cutscene movies, and (I think) the music.

But, if you use SDC to install, you have the option of just installing the core game and not any of the movies and such.

Actually, there seems to be an update on SDC for Multimedia. I know the version went up at Daylight Savings, but it seems to have gone up again (1.007). Since there supposed to be a new movie with the 1.02 patch, maybe that's what's on the latest version of Multimedia.

Yes I agree with Morpork. Especially since I just saw a rather in depth review at Orion Sector with pictures of cut scenes that I am missing. I have many scenes but not the different ones I saw in the review. I do not know exactly what ones, but one I recall is when I settle my first planet. The reviewer showed a pick of a cut scene that I do not seem to have. My version is only text on the screen nothing more. After my current game I will check it out myself. :)
