movement 201 and related topics

I have some fundamental questions. What do the buttons with the Blue squiggles on them to in the ship fleet screen do? How can you judge if an invasion of a highly populated planet is going to be successful? Conversely how do you judge how strong your forces have to be to invade a planet that is heavily populated? Any vets out there with the info? It would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll blast away. Sir Stanley Plotnick

- Blue Squiggles... can't say I know.

- How can I know if an invasion be successful? It is rather hard to tell IMO. Experience, however, has shown that the odds are usually pretty well in your favor. Even going against 3-1 odds the advantage has usually been with the attacker (as noted in the manual, it's assumed the attacker has air/space supremacy and thus gets a big advantage). 3-1 is usually my comfort zone. That is, I'll send in 1000 troops for every 3000 population... but more is always better. Anything over that and I'll either wait for more troops or use one of the alternate invasion techniques, but that gets expensive and/or trashes the planet quite a bit.

I thought those "blue squiggles" were a goto button? That's how I've been using them anyways.

You can goto a ship from the Fleet Screen just by double-clicking on it. If by blue squiggles you mean the symbol on the far right, I believe that causes a ship in orbir to launch.

Presssing the blue arrow on the right of the Fleet Screen will give that shop orders to go to the currently viewed sector.
