Game needs patch

I must say Sins of a Solar Empire has allot of potential, and i hope it will improve as much as galactic civilisations II did from the 1.00 verson to the current version.
I just finished playing a multiplayer (LAN) game and a single player game, and came acros a few things that i think need improvement, this game lacks depth a bit.

* The 3 races are pretty much alike, there are differences but like the capital ships are nearly the same. There could be some new options implented to each new races (happy to think something up, but i'm not a developer).

* Diplomacy atm is not fun at all, i'd prefer to have the diplomacy like galciv II has. Its far better than this. They control me, i dont have ANY control over them. Those missions are no fun at all, the galciv II diplomacy is far better and should be implented into sins as well, it'll improve the game allot.

* Bounty's. I should be able to collect those bounties as well. Imaging having the galciv II diplomacy system + the ability to put a bounty on another players head. Any player could just declare war on him and collect a certain ammount of money for each ship that was destroyed or building that was razed.

* Minor races, like in galciv II (i dont have much games to compare this one with huh :P) could be added into sins as well. Kinda like the pirates, but another challenge and less aggresive like the pirates. You should be able to ally them as well and help them out or they help you out.

* Even though the galciv II diplomacy might not be added into sins, I do think stuff needs to change. I want to be able to ally people and they actually help me out, they actually send ships if we are allied. Maybe have some sort of point system that if you helped them out they remember it and help you out. I dont know in how far that is possible but i'm sure stardock/ironclad are able to do it.

* Techtree. What i would like to see, are endless techs. So a tech that each point you put in there increases the output of a metalextractor with 5%, but every point gets more and more expensive. Same goes for damage of missiles, ranges etc etc. This would require a overhaul of the current system.
Maybe just do it with 1 of the races. that 1 has my idea, and the others have the current techtree, and make it so that the techtree that is limited is also cheaper, so they have to act fast because if enough resourches and wait to long, the unlimited tech tree will be stronger after a certain point.
Right now i feel the techtree is to short.

* Ships: Maybe a bigger differents between small ships. medium ships and big ships.
I builded pretty much 1 type of ships and thats it.
You can do so much with this, like people suggested that you can create your own.
But also make more ships, really small, small, medium, large and extra large.
The cost differents has to be extreme, like you can buy 50.000 really small ships or just 1 extra large ship.
Its doable with the current logistic system and you can add research to the tree for it.

There are sooo many things that could be added/changed/implanted into this game to make it even better. And i mean that in a positive way, the game really has allot of potential and even i could work allot of things out for the game.
Some of my ideas i described above, hopefully the devs agree with me and will add it into one of the patches.
If there are any questions, i'm around on irc :)

The diplomacy is rather weak right now. And calling it "missions" just makes it seem weaker for some reason. I think it would be better if the cpu would just put little flags next to their portraits indicating which resources they were in need of, or which enemies were attacking them, and anything you did to help them out (donating resources or attacking their enemies) gained you some rep. Same for the player though, let us flag what we need in diplomacy and see if any gifts arrive. It would seem far more natural than the demand-or-punishment system the game has now. But I haven't played much 4x in the past, perhaps there are better methods out there. The bounty system ingame is pretty cool though.

I disagree about the techs though, I think we have plenty right now, and many that need beefing up before more are added.

LOL -- not this again!

Please play for a while on each of the three races -- you'll start to notice some major differences, usually driven by technology and abilities, which are designed to be spammed and thus make a larger difference than in most games.

You can! Just go kill the player!

You can ask the ally to attack / defend something for you -- just select one of their units and you have the ability to request it of them.

Once the modding tools come out, I'm going to work on an "infinite tech tree" mod.

You already get the bounty if you kill some of the one who has bounty on him.

Was planed but didnt get in the game because of time.

You can ask anyone to attack or defend an area, just click your allied planet.

Players already collect on bounties.

Mercenaries. Kind of like Pirates, but you could actually control their ships for a while. Say you had a planet that needed protection but your own fleet was too spread out- hire a mercenary fleet on the Black Market. They might be more prone to fleeing if it looked like they were going to lose a battle, but it's better than leaving a planet unprotected, and they work for good old credits.

It might also be nifty if you could sell ships to mercenaries, or back new pirate bands in remote (ie far from you) areas.

I'd like to see militias turning into pirates (ie attacking other planets, or even trying to conquer other planets/systems-turning from minor players into major players.

It would also be cool if credits, metal, and crystals were stolen by pirates (ammounts determined by structures and population in the system)-that's what they're coming after not just killing your ships. Perhaps give the pirates capital ships also occasionally? (I've not come across one at least).

I'd also like more structures, antifighter structures (ie flak rather than gauss), and more large structures that would make planets more specialized.

I'd personally like the option to disable pirates for random maps, especially for the small maps; having to defend against them every 10-20 mins slows the game down quite a bit, or sucks away credits jacking up the bounty against the other player.

Having said that, when I get some time I'm going to play with the newly released tools to see if I can get pirates turned off with a mod. I think it'll be straightforward, from having a quick peak at the entity files.

About randomly generated map :
Please increase the minimum length of a starline between 2 systems in Z axis (vertical axis).
Systems which coordinates differ only in Z axis (same x,y position) have a too short jump in Z axis so the Ai near always fail to initiate a jump between those systems.

An unlimited tech tree would at some point in time unfairly favour those who research more quickly than others (i.e. Advent), wouldn`t it?

Randomly Generated Map option - multi-star toggle or somesuch, so that instead of action in a single star system, the possibility exists for many. Keep it random so you never know what kind of layout to expect. A nice further emphasis on scouting too.

I wouldn`t want to see anti-fighter Tactical platforms, since that is something that makes fighters/bombers so vicious. The capital ships from whence they emanate are generally weaker for the privilege.

Counter fighters with more fighters. Or your own fleet carriers (fighters). And don`t forget fighters.

I would like

random events

seige frigates get lower hp across the board and/or move much much slower

tech trading would be cool like in GCII, BUT, also being able to keep the techs you researched whether or not you still have the labs or not. It is a penalty for researching AND trying to play from behind. The current research-to-lab system benefits players with many many planets. they can put their labs anywhere behind the front lines while the player with only 3 planets has to keep them on the frnt lines. Broadcast centers are nice ways to force a fight and flip a nearby system. It's really cool if you have few planets, however, since they act better with stacking, you have to destroy the many labs you have to build more media hubs, but then they lose their strengths already researched. Then you go to build a kodiak, which you already researched, just to find you can no longer build one until you "research" it again.

Some kind of experience for lighter frogates would be nice.

Tech trading is a bad idea, since it'd be pretty hard for different races to trade with each other, since they have different trees. Also, it just makes it that much easier for other players to gang up and take another player down.

Wait, thats back? Just to check, but you randomly generated a map where the only difference between two grav wells was the Z axis, right?

Use the map generator if you want to control exactly what you're getting.

Rather than start another "what I'd like thread," I'll jump on this one.

:HOT: I'd like to see cooldown timers for special abilities. A greyed out button that 'ungreys' as the cooldown progresses or a numerical countdown would be nice.

:HOT: Jump supression feilds that cover the whole gravity well. The delay they give is fine with me. No need to change that IMO.

:HOT: Starting neutral with other factions would make diplomacy better.

:HOT: Rather than just saying that there isn't enough support, I'd like it say say how many more you still need. A fraction like "5 of 12" or 5/12. Something like that.

:HOT: A fighter control button to let me grab all friendly fighters in the gravity well so I can send them at priority targets like siege frigates.

:HOT: The ability to toggle off the auto-follow. I HATE my POV being dragged away by some damned fighter.

:HOT: Mouse over info on all buttons and a toggle on and off for after you've memorized everything.

:HOT: An in-game database for all three factions tech and ships that you can get to during game play.

:HOT: A friggin real-time clock in the upper right-hand corner and an alarm feature!!!

:HOT: Make superweapons unique so only one can be built.

:HOT: A bunch of different combat musics. The current one is beginning to get annoying. Have the game choose a random combat theme for each fight so if you bounce between fights the same theme is playing for each different fight when you come back.

:HOT: An MP3 player so I can import my own battle music!!!

I would love to see better fighter movement. I dont know about anyone else, but after watching shows like the new BSG series, and also Stargate SG-1/Atlantis, fighter movement is more fluid, they bank, do barrel rolls, and other things. I would love to see this in the new patch.
