It's Feb. 2008: Where's Deskscape 2.0

Just can't wait for us Vista Home users without OD to finally get Deskscapes. Anyone know when it'll be released this month?

Sorry for the unrelated post, just a little anxious.

Well it's not February anymore.......... is it?
People who's word mean nothing should not be trusted in the future as well? Should they?
I did buy the products as suggested but........... that does not nullify the fact that
a liar is just that a liar.

My first post!

I bought the full version of WindowsBlinds a while back, and now that I have Vista and a great "all glass" skin that I will probably never change...I never use the product and have in fact uninstalled it. The same will most likely go for every other product in the Object Desktop suite, so I am definitely not planning on paying 50 bucks just to get the beta. Also, knowing my luck I will fork out the $50 and the next day 2.0 will be released to the general public!!

I was always somewhat disappointed that I didn't get Ultimate - the only reason being the sweet animated desktops. When I heard Stardock was working on a program which will allow this on nearly all versions of Vista, needless to say I got super excited! When February rolled around I checked the Stardock website every single morning before leaving to work, then again at work on my lunch break, and once again before heading to bed at night.

Being a hardcore gamer, I am not new to having products fail to be released on their designated date. However, since a "working" beta is already available and ready to use - why not let us non-ObjectDesk users have a go at the beta? This would surely shut up alot of the people(including me) who have waited anxiously to try this out! Thanks and I hope my request is not criticized like the other posts here.

P.S. - My computer is hooked up to my HDTV - giving me all the more reason to squirm about wishing that my pretty desktop was moving a bit. :(

my advise is ......add more Pepperoni :)

And what the hell is that supposed to mean?

It makes as much sense as Folks getting all in a huff over a Free program that is taking longer to be developed than hoped. You would think it was life or death critical the way some act.

Oh and it wasent directed at you.. notice I did not quote anybody.. it was a general statement :)

I was just wondering why they don't just release the beta to all of us.

Because . . .
DeskScapes 2.0

I was referring to the beta that the Object Desktop users are using right now??? :|

Here we go again with the smart alec comments that another poster referred to...

Grrrr, I can't wait! I've been dying to get moving desktops on my vista premium. This should take priority over all other products, Stardock!

FluidCue, ODNT subscribers pay for the option to test beta applications. It's one of the perks of buying the package. When the app is far enough along in development that Stardock deems it worth of release, then it will be available to the general public.

To the general populace, it seems a lot of people have the impression Stardock is a large company when in fact, it is not. You'd be surprised at how small the company really is. With all the apps, games, and secret projects in development, it surprises me that things get done as quickly as they do. The people employed by Stardock are all capable in their respective fields. I'm sure Deskscapes 2 will be released soon but not before it is ready. Keep in mind, bitching about Stardock not releasing a free application within the timeframe that was initially posted is not the most civil thing to do. If the app wasn't free, you'd have a reason to complain.

*sigh* all I was saying was that since Stardock did not meet their posted deadline - those of us who have waited the entire month with our mouth's shut should be treated with the beta to play around with until 2.0 is actually released. Just a thought!!! Could a Stardock insider maybe give me a sort of rough re-release date(2 weeks, 3 weeks, month, 5 months, never??), so that maybe I will fork out the frickin' 50 bucks since Stardock seems to not care about my idea...

I am really starting to not like this community lol. It's not all warm and fuzzy like the others I am a part of..

Also, I was not "bitching" just had an idea and thought I would voice it. Saying your customers are bitching is not that civil either now is it? This is exactly why I was afraid to post my thoughts...this forum(moderators not only included buy more so) is full of jackals that seem to pounce on every little opportunity to promote their prized ODNT...I am starting to think that Stardock is perhaps delaying the release seeing as how their ObjectDesktop sales have pry gone through the roof.

I read and fully comprehend thanks HG_Eliminator! I actually countered with asking why not let us have a go at it?? After all we waited over a month to get our hands on it? Hell, I'd even pay full price now for just the beta. I just don't want all the other ODNT jazz.

FluidCue...If you are a current customer I believe you can upgrade to Object desktop for just a little over the full price of DeskScapes when it is released. You will then be able to use the beta today and get all of the goodies that will be coming with Object Desktop 2008 when it comes out. It's really worth it.
Also...Tweak Vista is an another program that any power user can't live without and it's part of the deal.

As I said earlier...

For people who are not happy with the timing of the release, they should either show a little patience or seek an alternative product elsewhere.

It's a shame Stardock did not put hope to release free version in Feb. may of saved some of this.

However I think it's a bit of a cheek to come on here and complain because it is not ready and tell them that it should be a priority over everything else to release a free version.

I have ODNT so have the beta on laptop but how often am I looking at a empty desktop not very so while it is a good program not the most useful of the Stardock range in my opinion WB and objectDock plus much more important than Deskscape on my computers.

Not everyone wants the free version only. I'd love to get the Deskscapes 2, and I'd pay some for it. But I don't need Object Desktop. It's not something I'd really use. But Deskscapes isn't worth $60 or whatever OD costs.

So, not everyone is looking for something for nothing.
