Thanks, Stardock

Thanks Stardock, your software is wonderful. I got my computer back about a week ago, and it ran perfectly. I decided to install all of the Object Desktop programs so my computer could look better. All the software is so wonderful, especially because it added about 6 minutes to the startup time. In addition to that, it added a very unique feature to all of my games. Instead of letting me play Halo for as long as I wanted, it limited my time by making my computer crash after about 3 minutes of play. This was so pleasant; I just love the blue screen of death! I love it so much that I have a T-Shirt with the BSOD on it! I just love that! I uninstalled all my Stardock software to see if it would remove this feature, but lucky me, I still get the BSOD! And startup still takes about 6 minutes longer than usual! I am so delighted with this that I can't even put it into words! How I love your software! Thanks Stardock! (For screwing up my machine! Grrr...)

warreni  - OP said he installed all of the ODNT apps, not trial apps.  There are not trial versions of all the apps.  I read that as full versions.

Zubaz, I concede your point, but I also know that sometimes newbies get OD confused with WindowBlinds and/or other components or software created by Stardock. As my high-school English teacher would have said, it's a case of metonymy. That's why I figured maybe the OP deserved the benefit of the doubt on the subject.

warreni . . you are a better man than I (today ;) )  It is interesting that the OP has not returned to refute the accusation of being a pirate.  it's possible that we have offended so much that the OP is crying to themselves in the dark.  Or . . they're embarrassed that they got caught.  We'll wait and see I guess.

If the OP returns with other facts, I'll be the first to apologize. :D

I have determined that KasperSpy AntiVirus is what is causing the BSOD's. However, I am still persuaded that BootSkin is what made my startup take so long. I hope there is a solution to this sometime soon.

No, I did not use a pirated copy of any program. I don't do illegal stuff like that.

No, I do not think that this is trolling. Everyone has the right to register a complaint with a company.

SparkyMonololak, have been running BootSkin for over 3 years on a XP Home, SP2 system. No problems at all. Now it does not run on all computers, something to do with the bios. That's why there are 3 version available. Some folks have found that none of the versions work on their computer. Another thing to remember is BootSkin is an unsupported program. Don't look for and fixes soon.

BootSkin should not be doing anything other than what the default computer boot is doing. I think you may fine that as in the case of your anti-virus program, something else is causing the problem.

What OS are you running? Is you computer fairly new or could it be processor and or memory problems?

for some it works fine, for others it doesn't, for still others it doesn't work at all

i've tried all 3 version - nada happened, which is cool with me = no BSOD at least

Bootskin is unsupported - though they may be working on one for Vista

But it's still not necessarily trolling... Trolling is coming to a forum and trying to start an argument by insulting, flaming and otherwise abusing other members. I'm trying to do anything but that.

Thanks (Pirate) SparkyMonololak for stealing other people's work and then complaining about it in the forums that they offer.

Asshat!

Everyone else who tried to help . . thanks.  Good work as always.

(ShelbyGT - it was possible that the pirate hadn't associated their email with WC and wouldn't show as a current customer.  It's a good clue, but not a fact.  Thank goodness for Highlander  )

Why would you jump to a conclusion like that? God, I'm only 13. I have no idea about how to hack a program. Even if I did, then I would not do it, as it is unethical and illegal. It's amazing how some people jump to conclusions like that before the topic starter (me) even had time to respond.

I think you need to start doing some hardware and software diagnostics on your own. You could not have possibly

done that since your profile doesn't show you as a customer. Start running some Windows diagnostics on your system and determine what processes are loading and what programs are loading. If you have been downloading lot's of "free" software from the Net then that is the problem. Much of today's software will automatically install itself with autoload features active which, when abused, hog system resources and slow start up times.

Object Desktop programs don't have that problem. They work well, I know I have been using them for 2 full years, and I plan on continuing to be a Stardock customer for a long time.

He would get little support from us, as he is not a paying customer at all. Try not using pirated software next time. -- Stardock support

Neither here nor there at this point.  I apologize for making a poor assumption.

If you are using the trial-ware I'd suggest that you uninstall and reinstall each app one at a time.; that way we can assist in finding the one that is causing you problems.   If you like them, you should purchase them.

Again . . I am sorry for jumping to conclusions.

not necessarily just other members. can also be applied towards a company.

while sarcasm can be viewed as a form of dry wit - it's basically no more than a backhanded insult

# n. - sarcasm, irony, satire, caustic remark -- (witty language used to convey insults or scorn; (wiki dictionary clip)

thus the post is seen by me as trolling (and being a Troll I tend to spot trolling fairly easily)

whereas a simple 'help - here's what i did, here's what happened' would have sufficed and you still would have received suggestions on resolutions without getting slightly toasted (gonna have to trust me... been Trolling these forums for yrs... and I've seen actually flaming... these replies ain't even close)

not quite that literally. uninstall all. reboot. then reinstall one, reboot... check it for a while, make sure it's working correctly, try a restart, see if BSOD shows up, if not.. move on to the next reinstall, repeat

what graphics card you using?

I'm to blame for that by saying

Your trolling here I think!!!
End of quote

That got everyone started I think. But from the way you where presenting your problem here it seemed only right. Also your membership as a guest is incorrect as it says you are 23 years old - not 13. [If that is even completely correct also.?]
Back to the point ... If you are using trialware on your computer and are having a problem. You need to provide us with the proper information. That is if you want help with getting your system fixed. Otherwise you are trolling here by flaming the community to say what we use here is a tragic loss. [ Meaning we use bad programs from Stardock... ]
Fact of the matter we do not and you do have a problem and a very bad way of letting us understand what it is. Number one you correct your profile with the right age and such. Being honest with others is a very good start to getting things accomplished in a proper manner. That and making some friends who will try to help you understand what to do when a problem comes along. And I don't want to here this thing your a loner and fixes everything yourself stuff. You should have better respect for the members here and give them that. Some of them work very hard to keep people like yourself happy with things. We are not here to be flamed; but to be helpful as we can to the others that may need us.
So if you can get things in order and be honest with us... I'll be the first to help you with whatever problem you may still have. For one - the anti-virus program you use is the same as I do here [ Kaspersky 7 internet security ] And please give us a break down of what you system is and how you are using what programs completely....

Thank you

Errr....

Lol

I fixed the startup time, however I am still convinced that BootSkin was the culprit for that.

And the BSOD's probably have nothing to do with this... It was my sound card, and I think I may have just fixed that. I'll see.

I apologize for my ignorance (Ok, not ignorance, but plain, all-out stupidity), and I apologize for any trouble caused here.

Once I have gotten my computer woes fixed then I will most likely try WindowBlinds and associated programs as it is high-grade software.

Cya laters, and again, I apologize for my stupidity.

Hey not a problem. At least your willing to admit a mistake. Hopefully you will get every thing up and going soon and be back to Customizing :)

Good luck :)
