When I select any visual style other than windows classic or XP style my drop down tabs, File, Edit ,Format, View, Help don't work when I open a window. Clicking on them closes the window and makes all my desktop icons vanish. The icons re-appear but not my window. I.E. 7, Firefox, and Opera drop down tabs still work just not any file, or folder drop down menus. I am using the trial version currently. I like the way the skins look and am thinking about buying the Stardock bundle but need to see if this problem is common and if there is a fix for it. Has this happened to anybody else? Thanks. Jim

I believe I ran into this problem and I think it has to do with NVIDIA. The fix as far as I remember was to deactivate some fancy GeForce features.

I'm sorry that I cant remember how exactly..... but I'm sure someone else knows :p

I know I saw a post about this a while back. I'll search for it.

Edit: Found it WWW Link

Thank you for the quick replies and the link. I disabled nview properties and now the drop downs work fine. Now my open window title bars are starting to stripe in the task bar. When I put the cursor over them sometimes they turn black. sometimes they clear up. And sometimes I get pink stripes in them. Sheesh! Maybe I shouldn't have updated my graphics card drivers today, Well I'll roll back my drivers and see if that helps. Thanks again.Jim

This should be my last reply to this post. :0)
Disabling my nview properties solved the drop down menu problem. If you have this problem with an NVIDIA chipset graphics card (my card is an EVGA 8600GTS)and I'm using XPpro sp2. Go to control panel/NVIDIA desktop manager(might be called NVIEW properties depending on your driver release?)Click on icon and make sure the nview desktop manager button says enable. That means nview isn't running. If it says disable that of course means it is running :) so click on it and see if it solves your problem after restarting.
The task bar striping problem I fixed by uninstalling all windowblinds changes to my PC using custom uninstall. I then defragged my C: drive (it was 8% fragmented)I re-installed windowblinds trial and haven't had any problems since.
I should also add that I downloaded the trial version to my wifes PC XPhome sp2 totally different hardware and she has had none of these problems. She has a GeForce FX 5500 installed on her system with MS drivers and nview isn't listed in her control panel.
Now that these problems appear to be gone I'm much more likely to buy the full release. Thank you again for the fast reply to my original post folks! Fast,Positive responses to newbies like myself encourage us to experiment further to see if we can get this software to work for us.
:) Right clicking on your desktop may show nview properties/control panel as well... :)
