GalCiv II / GalCiv II DA

Ok, so, I bought GalCiv II and all and really enjoy it, it is really fun incredibly addicting etc. I liked it enough that I decided to buy the DA and TA expansion packs. However, at this point, I was still a newbie.
So I start up DA and sit in awe at the graphics and general awesomeness of everything, then get a game started with 5 AIs on "dunce" as their difficulty. I noticed all the new features to the game, but when I went to my homeworld to build structures, I was disappointed at the building's values. For example, the Entertainment Center only gave +%10 morale bonus instead of the standard GC 2 +%25. Other things were different as well.
I decided that, since I was the aforementioned newbie, I would go back to GC 2, just for now. So I did, but all of those values were changed too! I mean, I had the option of toggling minor races, which was nice, but it was essentially DA now. The values were nearly the same, if not worse, which threw all my knowledge and strategy out the window. Can I reset just GC 2 but keep DA?

I think what happened to you was probably the GalCiv II you purchased never got patched. I think when they balanced the morale buildings in DA, they did the same to DL. If I'm lying, then you should be able to just uninstall both games and reinstall just DL and you should be back to what your accustomed to.

Personally, I'd just recommend you to play with the new morale levels and learn to live with it. If you'd want to play TA you'll need to live with that morale level anyway.

The changes they have made are for the better. Just try playing an easy game you will fine things balance out in the end.

yes you can un-install and then re-install but as soon as you want to pay DA or TA you`ll have those values back so it would be best to play it the way it is also keep in mine the there a mod editor coming with TA that you`ll be able to use and you could make your own mod

You don't want to be playing the boxed version of GC2. There have been numerous updates which include bug fixes and changes for the sake of game balancing. I've been playing GC2 pretty much from the first release and I have to admit, I've been very dissapointed with a few changes, but in the end, most of them do make for a better game. Once you get used to the latest version, you won't be as dismayed by any differences you don't like. In any case, you should be using Stardock Central to download and install the GC2 games. That ensures you have the latest versions. Stardock used to offer boxed products and stand-alone updates, but they don't do that anymore. Stardock Central is the sole distribution point now.

Ok. The reason why I really don't want to play is that GC2 is nearly identical to DA now :(

So are you guys sure that simply uninstalling DA will reset the values? thanks.

With less moral bonuses means each planet can't support huge populations as before, and people are more agitated when you raise taxes. So you have to depend more on trading and to increase the number of planets you own.

Please remember to custom build your ships with new components researched.... https://www.galciv.wikia.com/wiki/Galactic_Civilizations_Wiki
or search the forumns for new strategies.

Trust me, the AI is much better now, they escort their troop transports, gang-up on you if attack 2 or more races. Please stick it out a bit, don't rush to uninstall, and play the CD version. In war, military tactics must change or you'll die.

If you *really* want to play the old boxed version, then uninstall everything from Stardock Central then delete the ./My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2 and ./My Documents/My Games/GC2DarkAvatar directories. Install the game from CD and it will start up with all the default settings.

You can also mod the game pretty easily to change things like morale bonuses from entertainment buildings and all kinds of other stuff. I did a Dark Avatar mod that changes engines to Dread Lords specs and it was pretty easy to do. However, I've gotten used to the bigger, more expensive engines and I don't use it anymore.

Why would you want to play Dread Lords 1.0, without the incredible amount of features added in Dread Lord patches and two expansion packs...?

Over a slight rebalancing of the structures...? Just build another morale building on your planets, or one less farm, and the problem is solved. Might as well get used to it now, as opposed to never playing with the expansion packs you bought.

Sigh. Kanil, if I wanted to play DA, I'd freaking play DA. It's the same if I want to play DL, then I want to play what I know as DL, I don't want to play DA with less features. I just prefer the old DL where you didn't have to research trade technologies etc.

Darn.

Well, anyway, now I have a whole bunch of Dark Avatar files popping up in my search window. Do you think I should just send the DA to the trash, then empty it? What's the preferred method? :P

Anything installed through SDC needs to be uninstalled through SDC. Just right click on it in there and pick Uninstall.

Kryo if GC II been un-installed first can DA be un-installed after that ???

Should be, if DA didn't get nuked in the process.

My dad still prefers to play the original tetris on the original gameboy.
